I cannot get the stupid combat music to stop playing, and I cannot fast travel or wait.
Says enemies are nearby.
Even when I am at the top of the mages guild tower in the Imperial City.
Even when I walk to the center of the Imperial City and enter the Palace.
No matter where I am....plays the music like I am being chased...and I cannot get it to stop...and naturally like i said...no fast travel...no wait...no sleep...

I have tried toggling the AI...all of it...the battle the detect the world...and it wont go away...

What sucks is I saved the game thinking I could just restart it and it would go away.

But it doesnt.

I tried posting on the oblivion forums no one even replied.

Any ideas on how to fix this?
Anyone else have this problem?
It would suck to lose 65 hours of gameplay because of some weird glitch.

isn't there an option to control the volume in Audio?
:Q

and i kinda like the music 😛

or was your question about Fast Travel?
[i haven't bothered as i like to go by horse and explore on foot]
"T" is for wait/rest . . . choose 'how long 'just like you sleep. 😉

If the game thinks he's in combat, he can't wait/rest. Can you sleep in beds? Have you considered attacking a guard / stealing something in plain site and paying the fine? (I think that takes you to the prison center, but the travel might result in it realizing you're not in combat).

i feel your pain, i've had similar problems

try talking to a guard, see if there's a bounty on your head (drop all your stolen items first), pay the fine

or

hopefully you have savegames, and can work your way back up them until the problem isn't there. this is one reason i have 450 savegame files.

or

try posting in the oblivion forums again. there is probably something you can type in the console to change your chase status to 0 (this is how many broken quests are fixed for people).

Question is quite simple 😉,all you can do is either reload an earlier save point or auto save if it was before you got stuck in combat,I have had it happen a few times when auto combat stays stuck in combat mode, this can happen if you get away from a hostile mob,but stays on even if you get to town etc..down to the AI I'm afraid.

Sometimes quitting game and reloading works but not always.

What I did to fix it was... walked all the way back to the spot where the battle music started...killing everything in my path. When I arrived at the ruins...there was a necromancer...walking into a wall 😵

I killed it..and the music stopped.

Then on my way out...an Ogre appeared literally right infront of me.

in the middle of a hallway.

killed it too.

music stopped... outside could fast travel.

this game needs a patch the size of texas.

Try paying off your bounty to Armand in the IC or Skivva in Leyawiin.
I have had this issue before. One time it was so bad I had to drop my stolen goodies and turn my butt in to the Guard.

===== The Continuing Adventures of Shortylickens in OBLIVION! =======

As many of you may know, I usually take this oppurtunity to tell you how I'm doing in Oblivion and offer futher, advanced tips for the game.

+ SPOILERS! + + SPOILERS! + + SPOILERS! + + SPOILERS! +

DONT EVEN THINK OF READING THIS! 😉

I am the master of the Arena and Dark Brotherhood.

When you challenge the arena grand champion, you can wear anything you like and loot his body. Then you get a special armor of your choice. After that you can fight special monsters in the arena once a week. (For rewards of course.)
If you are smart enough to talk to the Orc before you can challenge him, he sends you on a quest to find out about his heritage. If you show him evidence of his true nature, he gets depressed and turns into a wuss during the fight.

The dark brotherhood sends you on assasin quests and eventually you have to clear out some traitors. During that time you are offered the option to become a vampire. I chose not to. After many quests and a BUNCH of double-crosses you become the Listener when speaking to the night-mother (a ghost). That also makes you the master of the guild. She upgrades your dagger of Woe too.
Once a week you visit Her to get jobs, then pass them on to your assistant and collect the gold.

During one of my misc. quests I happened across a sword similar to the Blade of Woe. Its a longsword, HIGH damage and weights 0. Very nice overall. Two people want me to return it to them, but I'm gonna keep it until I find something comparable.

In the Blades Quest, you get to join the order and have to defend Bruma from an Oblivion Gate thats real close to town. You get several soldiers to help.
After that, the Blades want you to ask for help from all the other Castles to defend Bruma.
The leader of each castle usually wants you to clear out their local Gate first. Then they say they'll send aid. I havent completed this quest yet.

Have discovered all 16 Gates, cleared out 6 so far. (Assuming there are only 16.) :Q

The mages guilds each want you to do a small quest and then they give their recommendation so you can enter the Library in the IC. Also not done yet. If you screw up and get caught stealing from them, you get two chances to redeem yourself and have to find a bunch of ingredients. (I've used up my two shots, still in it though. 🙂 )
Some of the quests include jumping into a painting and some poor fellows dream.

The thieves open up more fences as you advance in rank.
Ongar in Bruma.
Dar' Jee in Leyawiin.
Luciana in Bravil.
The Smithy in Anvil. (I cant use him yet.)

I havent done too much with the fighters guild yet. Although in one town it looks like they have a competeting guild.

You can also do some simple quests and join the Knights of the White Stallion and the Knights of the Thorn. Am pretty sure they dont have anything for you after joining.

I have all the houses! Although most arent decorated. Its easy to make money with alchemy. Just make and sell potions. Also, being a catburgler makes good money too.

IC: 2000 GP, from the Trade Office in the Market sector.
Bravil: 4000, from the Count in the castle.
Leyawiin: 7000, from the Count in the castle.
Bruma: 10000, from Countess in the Caslte. (MY favorite.)
Cheydinhal: 15000, from the Count in the castle.
Choral: 20000, From Countess.
Skingrad: 25000 From the Orc Butler in the castle. (Best house as far as I can tell.)
Anvil: 2000 from a guy wandering around town. Its a mess and supposedly haunted. Havent completed the quest yet.

At some point you will have to read a book to figure out a quest. The game wont help you automatically simply for reading it. You need to write down the capitalized letters in all 4 books. They say:
GREENEMPERORTOWERTOUCHESMIDDAYSUN.
Go to the imperial tower in the center of IC. At noon one of the crypts has a glowing map on the door. Look at it and the game gives you the rest of the quest. Quick travel as normal.

One rich guy in the IC will eventually talk to you about collecting rare Ayleid artifacts. Havent found any besides the one. They should be in ruins, old forts, and caves. He says he'll pay well.

In deadra ruins, you can shoot down the valuable stones with your bow. Or use telekenisis.

ALSO: In each guild it seems to can eventually get a follower. You talk to them to have them follow or stand still. I got one little annoying treasure troll lookin kid. He died. Oh well.
The murderer in the Brotherhood Sanctuary is pretty capable though.

I have figured out a bunch of other stuff too.
Drop me a line if you are stumped. I am only level 9 but I have done a lot of things.

I had the worst glitch last night where I rescued this Erthor guy from a cave and took him back to the place where I was supposed to drop him off and finish the quest... only problem is something didn't trigger and the idiot just kept following me everywhere. Even after I thought I'd got rid of him, I'd go back to my house and he'd be standing in my living room! Eventually I just reloaded a previous save, but I'd wasted about an hour. 🙁

i didnt have a bounty. i only steal ninroot.
D: but resolved now...just some guy in a dungeon wanted to kill me..and decided to run straight into a wall for an hour..before i go back and find him.

Gamewinners.com has the cheat/console codes.
Many of them are similar to Morrowind. You can change your bounty to 0. As well as affect the AI status of nearby guards.

I dont need 450 save games myself.
Whenever I start a new quest, I save to a file.
Whenever I am in the middle, I save to another one .
If I am about to do something stupid, I save in yet another one.
And one more for when I shut down at night.
The easy thing is you have a "Continue" button on the start screen in case you forget which one to pick up.

I liked the Morrowind saves better. You could name them.
Mine were "NewQuest". "Progressing". "RiskyActions". "Safe" (for in between major quests). And I think I had a quick save too.
Seems like level progression was a lot faster in Morrowind. I also made a checkpoint type save at each level. Then I started to delete old ones when I hit 20 or so.

You can name the saved games in Oblivion too. Just pull up the console with the tilde key (~), and type "save filename" without the quotes.
