I made this thread in order to find out if anyone has any luck running this game on 6600 GT.
Unlike many people, I do not have a steady income, and I cant imagine upgrading any time soon after having just shelled out $120 on a new video card this past summer. I have to admit that I'm somewhat pissed that my card became obsolete so fast, but I'm used to these things so it's ok.
I saw several posts on the net where people say that they were able to run the game with 4x AA and HDR turned on with most settings on medium at 1024x768.
I found this to be true, since I was able to achieve the same result. However, my fps are below those posted by most people , and I'm wondering I am doing something wrong.
My fps 10-20
Other people's fps 30 and below, averaging at 28fps.

If you had any luck with this card, please post your overclock methods, your system config, and the tweaks you made.

My system:
AMD 64 3200+
1gig ram
eVGA 6600 GT 128mb PCI-E

most people are doing those on cards much higher up than 6600gt

download coolbits 2 under additional direct3d setting set max frames to render ahead to 0 stock is 3 this is getting some people 15fps boost. personally with me it only got 5fps.

just make sure to set it back to normal for other games as it may cause loss of performance in them.

Here are some known FPS killers (at least for me on my Radeon 9800XT, which is similar in performance to your card)

Turn off grass all the way (slider to left)
Turn interior and exterior shadows off (sliders to left)
Set Water detail to "Normal" instead of "High"

Everything else for me is pretty much set to max and i'm running at 1280x1024 at around 20fps, so you should be able to achieve that.

why not try lowering the res.

though that is definately low, it is really game dependent. While 60fps may be a near requirement for many when playing their fast online shooters, when playing a slower moving RPG it's probably overkill. I have seen many reviews on sites like HardOCP that discuss framerates in the 30s or even high 20s as being absolutely playable in some games.

I agree. 20-30 fps is fine for an RPG. I used to play morrowind at about 20fps with my old Athlon 1Ghz, GeForce2 GTS, and i enjoyed every bit of the game. However, it doesent mean that i dont prefer it with everything maxed out on my current setup :).

I just got the game today and only got to aply a few minutes of it, but so far my frame rate is playable, not sure exactly, but above 30, not choppy at all. I dont have AA or HDR on, but Im running at 1280x1024 with all the other settings on about half.

My specs;
Athlon 64 3000+
2gb OCZ ram
Chaintech 6600gt 128mb PCI-E

How do you enable both HDR and AA? Whenever I try to enable both of them, it says that they can't be enabled at the same time (I'm running a 7900GT, FYI).

You can't enable both, it's in the game not your hardware.

While its true, 20fps isn't the smoothest experience, its good enough for a slow paced game that is 95% exploration. And I would rather have that exploration look its absolute best :)

it doesn't matter, the game will not allow you to turn on both hdr and aa whether you have a x1800, x1900, or a 7900 gtx
