Awesome, I'll be Oblivion ready once I get my 7800GS AGP as I have EXACTLY the recommended system requirements (one gb ram, 3.1ghz northwood P4, lol).

I've seen a large "already tried" report in the German PC Games. Looks like an awesome game. Morrowind was also good but it kinda bored me to death with endless running, cliff racers and tons of pretty much story-irrelevant subquests.

With a Minimum requirement of XP, I just hope they don't stick StarForce copyprotection on it (Sony DRM Rootkit anyone ?) 🙁

If it uses Starforce I'd say for everyone to boycot the game 😛 though I doubt enough people will get it (the boycot that is) and still the majority will run to the store and buy it 🙁

Anyway, I'll probably be one of the people who will buy it anyway.

So does anyone know if you can still enable that shadow thing were EVERYTHING casts real time shadows? (or something like that)? Who knows, maby it can be enabled in consol.

Last I saw, they supposedly removed Shadows from certain objects - books, chairs, etc., but the Chars and a few other things still have Shadows.

Lets hope it IS still an option to enable those shadows for high-end GPU users like me

*hugs SLI rig*

(or at least enable through console)

Youd probably be able to add it by tweaking the ini files. If they took it out last minute and changed the options on the menus then they would have left it in the ini. As they would probably not have time to rip all that code out.

They said it would be impossible. That code has been completely removed. According to the developers, "high-end" GPUs wouldn't matter, as the dynamic shadows flat out broke the whole dang engine.

Anyway, those recommended specs look pretty steep, don't they? I mean, compare them to, for example, FEAR:

Pentium® 4 3.0 GHz or equivalent processor
1 GB RAM
A 256 MB Radeon® 9800 Pro or GeForce? FX 5900 or equivalent supported
DirectX® 9 compliant video card with hardware T&L and pixel shader 2.0 support
Sound Blaster® X-Fi? series sound card

NO.

1gb should be normal for every only halfway gaming person....sry...and the gfx/cpu specs are very moderate.

edit: gfx reqs are very low... the qeustiuon is how it would run on an older card like X800/X850

Things aren't so bad, people were predicting much worse. I'm kind of surprised they don't recommend 2 GB of RAM.

It won't be an option, they already announced that. They're using a completely different shadows engine from the E3 build of the game, so it's not even possible to include the old one in it (well, it is, but too much work).

I assume they just missed the 6600 series in the list, since the 6600GT is about as good as the 6800nu and the vastly inferior FX series IS on there.

XP? I'm going to assume that this will either work fine on Windows 2000 anyway or it has starforce in it. There isn't any reason it shouldn't work fine on that OS otherwise. Either way, I'm not buying a new OS for one game.

uhhh..radeon 9800 and 1 gig o ram...chug a chug a chug a chug a chug...will it blow up a barton? Already preoreded...hope it...chug a chug a chug a works...

Minimum System Requirements:

* Windows XP

Better not be.. I predict this is a lie.. Several games I've run into say this and all work wonderfully on 2000pro, which I'm not giving up until I have to.

It'd be better of min requirements were P4 3.0ghz (2003 tech) and recommended dual core X2 3800+ (for those that have been waiting to utilize dual core cpus). Pentium 4 3.0ghz is about as special as a honda civic in 2006.

Damn P-M 2.0, Go 6600, 1gig DRR2, Im hoping i can atleast play 800x600 🙁

I might be able to get some nice screen shots running at max settings but it will definitely be a slide show.
