He was smart as well as talented, using Quincy Jones as a producer, (one of the best), using Vincent price for the narration in "Thriller", (one of the creepiest) and using Eddie Van Halen for the snarling guitar solo in "Beat it" (oh yea, Eddie can play a little). MJ, too bad your personal life was so messed up, RIP...

Hard to top Thriller when it comes to videos or albums.

Might make more sense to ask "other than thriller"

The 1969 I Want you back video still amazes me. Michael was 10 when this was done, More talent then just about everyone that has followed his foot steps.

Ok. Since Thriller will win in a landslide, I've updated both questions to not include Thriller.

He was the king of pop, not the king of legitimate music. Everything he performed was shallow and soulless.

But nothing against the guy. If people buy it, let him sell it. Just don't ask me to worship him, too.

2 Legit 2 Quit was my MCH. Can't find any connection to Michael Jackson via Google, does he own the rights? Does my brain need rewiring?

Probably. :p

Nah, I should have quoted the original post that led me to my response:

It seems to this day, the Scream video which was made in 1995 is still the most expensive music video, at 7 million dollars. That was an awesome video. Jackson has 5 of the most expensive on that list.

Damn I should have got that.

On a side not anyone know what anime the clips of the boy screaming are from in the video "Scream"? Then again at $7 mil they probably got someone in Japan to do those few scenes for them.

"Leave Me Alone" is such an interesting video, very cool concept for its time.

Certain songs take me back to my middle school days and early high school days so its hard to pick just one song.

I could've sworn while not all where expensive they were well produced, they were probably all shot on film too. If they all were, I wonder if someone would take the time to do a transfer from film to HD. But I suspect with resurgence sales of his stuff they'll just slap a dvd together and sell it rather than do much work on it. hopefully though if its was shot on filmed it was blocked out for 4:3. A lot of older shows were shot on film but they were blocked off kinda making the hi def/wide screen transfer not worth it.

Favorite video: First instinct was The Way You Make Me Feel, then I remembered I liked the slowmo/black-and-white in Stranger in Moscow. Voted as per first instinct. None of the bells and whistles like some of the other videos but it has...something special. Maybe the LOLfactor involved in Jackson playing a streetside-romeo, serenading an attractive chick? :D

For album, tied between Bad (voted for it) and HIStory. My Dad was obsessed with the album and I heard that record in its entirety at least a few hundred times growing up. Still have both Thriller and Bad on vinyl. HIStory would be a close second.
