I'm using a 3rd party software and this error message is coming up in the application. It is only happening on 1 client out of 5 that is running the application, so it does not appear to be application related. Their is no difference as far as the OS is concerned. The error message seems to have something to do with DCOM. I'm not familiar with the ins and outs of DCOM. Does anyone know of a site that gives any sort of troubleshooting for DCOM issues, or better yet does anyone have an in depth knowledge of what could be going on here?

Hi, Welcome to the forums.

Sorry about the lack of replies to your question, but, more information is always needed. Be as specific as you can about the software you are having probs with, the OS, what hardware you have [sometimes it can be a hw related problem, that doesn't look like a hw related problem].

What we need:
Operating System
antivirus
firewall
what progs are starting at boot
what progs you are having problem with
is it an intermittent problem
can the problem be replicated

Hardware
RAM
Motherboard
CPU/fan
VGA/sound/
drives/peripherals

Etc

If you read through some of the posts, you will find that the quickest correct answers come to those who [usually] give very detailed info as to the setups.

Don't be afraid to post back soon.
Speak to you soon, and look forward to trying to help you.

I have the same error when trying to enable tunneling TCP/IP for my DCOM app. Probably the dcom configuration on these machines is different.

If tunneling TCP/IP is not in the default protocols on the machines that work, try removing tunneling TCP/IP from the default protocols in Component Services on the machine that does not work.

Component Services/Computers/My Computer/Properties/Default Protocols.
