Anyone on here have experience using an Obihai and Google Voice? I've been using it for ~5 years, and suddenly yesterday when I got a verification call from our credit union, it wouldn't seem to register me hitting the # key on the phone.

Today, my wife told me that the phone was no longer working. I checked, and the dialtone was very, very low, and it wasn't registering me hitting the keypad to dial out.

No problem, I keep a spare OBI200 for such things. I unpacked it from the box, replaced the OBI200, the Cat5 cable and AC adapter. Then I went into the Obihai setup, deleted the old OBI200 and started setting up the new one. Trouble is - it wouldn't detect. I tried several times, and it isn't detecting it on the website dashboard. I tried dialing the *xxx number, and didn't hear anything on that, either. I even switched the cat5 cable to a different port on back of the router, just in case.

Right now I have the old OBI200 hooked back up. I have no idea what else to try, because I figured that replacing the OBI200 entirely would solve whatever issue it was having. I've tried hooking up a different phone directly to the OBI200, but still have the same issues. Calls sound loud on the answering machine, but dialtone and their speaking is very, very low on the phone itself. I've tried different phones, and as I said, hooked directly up to the OBI200 to make sure there wasn't some sort of problem in my phone cord, or between the answering machine and the phone.

Of course, now since I deleted the old OBI200 from dashboard, I can't get calls on the answering machine, either. This is a problem, because we use the Obihai and Google Voice for 99.999% of our phone calling. I'm just not sure what else I can try! Help!

Depending on ISP. you may be better off purchasing a modem from your provider for the VOIP services. Skype and others IE vonage, are tier 3 providers, if your isp offers phone service, that would be the best way to go. Purchase their modem, with a built in EMTA, ours gives a 1 year warranty, but use that for your phone service provider. They are most closely related to a full on voice isp. They use packetcable standards, and use a real switch, and is almost just like having a telco as your voice provider.
Just a thought.

I ended up replacing our cordless phone and router, and the issue was resolved. I actually believe the problem was something on our telephone - we had a brownout/power outage, and then the problems began. I guess it doesn't hurt to replace the hardware every 5-10 years!
