So I have a code reader hooked up to my car and it's telling me on my android app that my 2001 Civic has a code P1298, which I looked up and seems to have something to do with the cars electric system.

The weird thing about this is though, that the car is driving just fine and I don't have any check engine light on when I drive it. Any thoughts?

One thought, I don't drive that often, does the car need to be on for a certain period of time before the check engine light comes on?

Car runs great and has about 130,000 miles on it.

According to what I just read in the link you provided (which seems to fit the issue...?)

I would do the replacement of the part they suggest and be done with it...? As for the check engine light to have come one it may have or it may not have...? If it did you may not have noticed it or it came on right when ever you were switching the engine off and with certain codes when you restart it will not return...

If this for sure is the only code you have then do as I said and replace the part but use the method in the link you have...

There is a bulb check cycle as soon as you turn the car on. Does the Check Engine Light illuminate when the car is started? It goes off after a moment.
