I'm about to order the Equus 3130..
Before I do, are there any others I should consider?

Do you own an Android OS phone...? If so another alternative cheaper and looks to have other options and with future programs might do a whole lot more...? I ordered one yesterday...

Mariok, it does absolutely no data recording / graphing. It only gives you an error code, which you can get for free by going to autozone.

Also know that the equus does not update their devices, have any real support, and some of the codes give the wrong information.

I bought the 3150 $130 at amazon but sent it back.
I emailed them several times about the codes being wrong and when a update was coming, never heard back. They know about the problem as they updated their site about a year ago but still no update to the scanner.


What do you want out of a OBD2 scanner?

You have a laptop? There are lots of OBD2 software for computers. I got a cheap chinese cable and disk from eBay to scan my SiLs audi's airbag light.

If you have a advance auto near you there is the actron CP9580 that has live data, ABS (only us makers), prints to PC (no 64bit support right now), etc... for $150 (after coupon) at advance.

I am still looking for a good one that is not $1XXX. The actron is the closest but I am waiting to see when the 64bit comes out. They wrote me back quickly and said early 2011 is the next update including 64bit support.

I have a Sunfire 2002, but I'll be getting something else.

I use the torque app on my android phone plus a cheap chinese 30 or so dollar bluetooth OBD II reader. I can read error codes, reset the errors, and data log at .1 second intervals. I also can setup whatever meters I want to visually see on my phone which is kind of cool. The only issue with the cheap chinese one is they seem to overheat and stop working properly after about 15 minutes of us. SO if you want to constantly gather data, I would look into the more expensive units that do not have this issue. They run around 150 for it.

Oh the torque app is about 5 bucks for it, readers on ebay run about 30 to 50 for cheaper ones, but they do work.
