lol. Now you guys are so overcome with ODS that you're complaining about Obama riding around on a bus.

Is there any form of travel that he can take where the ultra right won't be thrown into a sputtering rage frenzy?

Only guessing here, but I am pretty sure anything that is one way, and without return is acceptable. So it is not really the form of transportation that is the problem. :p

did we elect a leader or a professional orator with secret service detail as a perk?

I heard this is going to cost taxpayers almost $200 million/day.

We elected a president, and attempting to create public support for your initiatives is a primary part of that.

I have to say though, being OUTRAGED about how Obama is taking a bus around is one of the sadder examples of ODS that I've seen.

The tour just came through Syracuse. They had to shut down any and every part of any freeway or road that the tour would go by. That meant the main thruway, and 2 other highways right at the peak of rush hour as well as the side streets to reach the school he was giving the speech at. My 15 minute ride home like a lot of others turned into an hour. Thanks Obama.

...and did you *learn* anything?

Looks like you learned to expect a longer than normal commute when the leader of the free world is rolling through the streets of your neighborhood.

Obama's Bus Tour on Education and Learning Stuff = Success.

OK, now that's damn funny.

Still, this is the 21st century. The age of instant worldwide communication. Does he really need to travel? We have televisions. The internet. Seems to me that this is a publicity stunt rather than simply trying to communicate his ideas and goals. But whatever.

I once missed a connecting international flight due to President Clinton getting his hair styled. I had to spend a night in a hotel and catch the same flight 24 hours later.
BBM

His pubic hair, by any chance ... by Monica?

No you didn't. While the right wing propaganda machine spread that story with their usual self-righteous fury, it turns out -- yet again -- it wasn't true:
Clinton's runway haircut caused no big delays

The story was that planes were kept circling as President Bill Clinton had his hair clipped on Air Force One at Los Angeles International Airport last month.

The runway haircut by Beverly Hills stylist Cristophe became such a metaphor for perceived White House arrogance that the president felt compelled to apologize for the reported delays.

But the reports were wrong.

According to Federal Aviation Administration records obtained through the Freedom of Information Act, the May 18 haircut caused no significant delays of regularly scheduled passenger flights -- no circling planes, no traffic jams on the runways.

Commuter airlines that fly routes reportedly affected by the president's haircut confirmed they have no record of delays that day. ...
You really should do a better job of fact-checking your stories before you claim to be involved in them.

Edit: re. the OP, who cares? It's only two days. The republic will be fine. I don't know what some of you think a leader is supposed to do, but being a cheerleader for his organization's major programs and initiatives is a vital part of a leader's job.

I don't care what your sources are claiming. This haircut delayed the landing of my USAir flight from Pittsburgh and I missed my flight to Taipei/Singapore. I spent the night at a Holiday Inn near LAX and flew out the following day.

That's ok. It's cool to have hundreds of people tied up for an hour in every city he decides to stop at just so he can spread the same message you hear in school day in and day out.

You'd think that asshole won an election or something from the way he just struts around giving speeches.

Gotta love the braindead supporters of this piece of shit defending him. This is a massive waste of money and not necessary. How about that moron do his job.

You mean more like you would think he running for an election or something from the way he just struts around giving speeches.
