A blogger unearths the Times from 1988 and makes a startling discovery...

Link:http://justoneminute.typepad.c...01/south-carolina.html

"Party leaders said Mr. Jackson polled well in many predominantly white precincts. They estimated he won 5 percent to 10 percent of the white vote on Saturday (1988), compared to almost none in 1984"

Compared to this Obama's 25% seems like a landslide. And remember this is a three way race amongst democrats so there is bound to be some division

Nothing Bill says ever holds any water. He's a disgrace, both to this country, and to the office he once held.

It is an attempt by Bill to marginalize the victory and to make people think that the only reason Obama is winning is because he is black.

After years of complaining about the Republicans and ?southern strategy? to win over white voters it seems that Bill and Hillary are doing the exact same thing.

The subliminal message Bill is sending is that Obama is the candidate for blacks, but Hillary is the candidate for everyone else, especially women. Since there are more women in the country than blacks that would give Hillary the victory.

As a Republican I hope it gets nastier and nastier so that the blacks decide to sit at home in November or maybe they will wake up and realize that the Democratic Party has only been giving them lip service for the past 30 years and has really not done much to improve the life of many blacks, especially the poor trapped in the poverty cycle.

Unfortunately for Team Clinton, Obama won blacks and women.

Just pointing out your lack of credibility Pabster in judging Clinton as President.

I personally have nothing against Clinton as a PRESIDENT, I think he was pretty darn good, bjs or no bjs. I have been in more than a few arguments defending his administration compared to the bags of shit we have right now. But I seriously dont get what he is trying to pull.
Supporting your spouse is one thing. Trying to play good cop bad cop is another. Emphasizing Obama as the "black" candidate is totally of the wall. Why does he have to bring Jesse Jackson in all of this in the first place. I mean I think he was called the first black president a while back by an award winning black author. Why ruin all that goodwill just for throwing mud at a political opponent who might beat your wife 6 months from now ( he is still trailing nationally though not by much)

The irony (and untruth to the comparison Bill tried to make) is that Jackson never carried any significant portion of the "white" vote. Obama has, and will continue to. Iowa was a real test. 94% white.

Do you actually have a candidate in mind that you support or would vote for any republican including Ron Paul ?????

And the "i hope that blacks sit at home" line kind of makes me think that you are an apprentice of Karl Rove

I think the Clinton camp and the media have been totally out of line playing the race card...if you look at the exit polling, Obama has been consistently winning with younger voters whereas Hillary has been winning the older voters. Has Obama been getting a bit of a boost from blacks? No doubt, but not near the boost Clinton has had so far from women.
Interestingly if you look at the exit polls for race/age, Obama gets 75-80% of across all ages of blacks and had the most non-blacks 18-29 with 52%. Non-blacks all ages 30 and above were not won by Obama or Clinton but Edwards. Many polls I've seen suggest that Edwards if he were to drop out, much of his support would mostly go to the Obama camp...

The Clinton camp has to face the music and understand they lost every race, age, gender...everything.

Another interesting point; Edwards won most of the Republican votes and won most of the people who want to keep troops in Iraq.

You guys can go ahead and wallow in your victory and keep telling yourself that Obama won because he is such a visionary and not because of his race. The reality of the matter is that black voters in SC saw a black man that is attractive and seems electable, of course they are going to vote for him en masse... it doesn't really matter what he had to say, what's more important is that he is a black man.

Bill Mahr interviewed a group of black women from SC last week and you could just tell that they were all swooning over Obama because he was a slick, attractive black man. When asked if there was anything Hillary could do to win their vote, they just laughed. It's obvious they did not have an open mind, they had found their black candidate, their great black hope.

I think Bill Clinton was dissapointed because he has really embraced black voters and done a lot for african-american causes, and they just dropped him like a hot potatoe as soon as an electable black man came along.

What exactly did Bill do for blacks? I keep hearing that, but no one seems to back up that line with details.

I am thinking either Romney or McCain and leaning to McCain.

Paul is a non-issue might as well ask me if I would vote for Newt or Rush since they have the same chance of winning the nomination as Paul.

I am a partisan Republican and while I think Obama might do a good job in changing the tone of America politics I also think that he is WAY too liberal for my liking.
My main issue is fiscal spending and limiting taxes and I believe that Republicans are still our best chances to do either of those. Despite the fact that Bush and the last Republican congress lost their way I have NO faith all a Democrat President controlling spending. As we have already seen Hillary or Obama are talking about expanding our government in many ways.

Personally I would like to see more blacks vote Republican, but if that can?t happen then I would be happy if they sit and home and do nothing on election day.

The following was emailed to me by a very close black friend of mine (who will remain anonymous). He wrote these words himself, and sent them out to a longgggg list of white AND black friends he normally emails with jokes and funny videos. Everyone on the list of recipients is highly educated and quite successful - IOW, it's a list of professionals. Every reply-all, from both white AND black recipients, has been in support of his statement... These were the words:
Please forward this to anyone and everyone that you know who is even thinking about voting for her (and her husband)!! Because believe me, her support comes from riding the coat tails of her much beloved husband, whom one of our prominent Black authors (a female whose name escapes me) called "our first Black president". I don't know about any of you who are Black, but that is a slap in the face of EVERY proud Black man that I know.
hopefully, that is the real reaction to Billary we'll see all over the country. The people are starting to see through his facade!

What, the truth that a state like Iowa (94% white) overwhelmingly voted for a black man?

Facts. Try sticking to them.

Yeah, because no white man could ever take up the cause of black people. Unfortunately, this is the typical way of thinking of african-americans.

OMFG!!!! This has to be the troll post of the week

Bill Clinton swept the black vote in both 1992 and 96. That doesn't mean that Hillary is automatically entitled to do so just coz she is his wife. She has to earn it. just like bill had to.

Everything Bill says right now is turning to pooh, he ought to lay low as soon as possible, since he is ambushing Hillary's hopes.
