The reason you don't see the outrage as much as this as when Bush did it is a lack of shock. When Bush did it the public was simply so surprised that the President would do something so blatantly unconstitutional. Now I think there's no surprise. First, this violation has already been done by a previous President. Second, Obama has continued or expanded several of the Constitutionally violating policies of Bush. So why should we be surprised now enough to be outraged?

I'll be outraged at this act if we can even find a Presidential candidate who wouldn't violate the Constitution like this. Then at least knowing some President wouldn't do it I could be outraged again. Maybe Ron Paul ... too bad he can't win any race.

But I also know that Palin, Gingrich, Romney, McCain, and anyone else that the GOP would put forth would be doing the same illegal things. I just don't have the energy to be outraged right now. Guess the disappointment in me is too high. Funny how GOP keeps calling Obama the most liberal President when things like this pulled from the GOP playbook are done significantly more often from him.

Obama is gonna have to turn a 180 if he wants my vote again. And the GOP is probably gonna have to discover magic if they want mine. I guess I just won't vote in 2012.

1. The Cold War is over
2. Our two current wars are against 3rd world countries who have effectively no means to strike back at our mainland.
3. We have no conflicts with any serious threat on the horizon.
4. Defense and counter-intelligence spending is higher than it was when we had the threat of nuclear annihilation.

Does not compute.

Wars are fought by groups. Nationality is not the only prominent grouping on the planet. In fact religion is just as, if not more, potent. You say a third world nation has no means of striking us, or that they'd rather not. You are correct, but also misleading us.

The "war" is against extreme elements in Islam. I hope I don't need to remind you that this grouping is global, is far larger than we are, and it's doing a really shitty job of policing itself. Most importantly there are no borders to cross, for it is already among us.

You may suggest that the dangerous element is minor. Yes, it is minor compared to the whole of Islam, but all it took were 19 men and box cutters. If they do not stop themselves, who will?

Our government, in its utter incompetence, would subject all Americans to the pervasive measures they feel are necessary to police Islam. In this 'war' their solution is to police all of us. To grope, fondle, and molest your children at airports. To have Patriot Acts, Gitmo, and warrantless wiretapping on every American. To destroy the Bill of Rights.

Our 'enemy' in Islam could not have done a better job at destroying us than our own government. For without our god given rights, America is nothing.

Thank you Republicans and Democrats. You've done a bang up job.

I'm sure it's only a matter of time before the usual suspects post that it's all somehow perfectly justified, in their typically condescending fashion.

What's funny is there have been multiple threads on this exact same topic in the past, with the same declarations that the evil LIEburals would defend Obama on this, and the exact same requests for Obama's denunciation, and the same (wrong) predictions that it wouldn't happen.

It's already happened. Numerous times. It's bad. Everyone gets it.

I wonder if the same people who hammered Bush about the Patriot Act will come down hard on O for this. I doubt it.

We know our GOD made flesh President Obama is doing it just to keep his critics "happy".

In reality, Obama is using all the efforts and money involved to pay for the abortions his young white mistresses have to get,... BTW, they were all virgins when he met them,.. and 18. And really fucking hot.

It was long..long..long old in October of last year, genius. Like I said before, this is one of half a dozen threads saying the same thing.

Maybe you should make a list of the people whom you wish to have list their opposition to warrantless wiretapping in order to get the coveted Boberfett seal of approval.
