Wow, can you imagine how the other candidates would have answered this question? They'd probably have to pause to think about the right answer or the right qualifiers to add after saying "yes." Saying you like Jay-Z or Kanye, yet walking the middle road to not offend anyone and still wanting everyone to like you at the same time is no easy task. Obama immediately says, "of course," and it all sounded authentic.
His omission of a lot of stuff is purely political. I'm sure he wants to say something like, "Yeah, he straight rips it on the mic," but the last thing he wants is a newspaper headline saying, "Obama speaks ebonics."
Still, it's kind of weird that we live in an age where a candidate has to be this careful answering a question regarding musically preference.
