A Florida pastor's plan to burn Qurans at his church on Sept. 11 ignited a protest today by hundreds of Afghans, who burned American flags and shouted "Death to America," and drew a comment from the top U.S. commander in Afghanistan that the preacher could be increasing the threat to his troops. Former Vice Chief of Staff of the Army Gen. Jack Keane, a well known foreign born socialist and adviser to Petraeus, called it "outrageous" and "insulting to Muslims."

"It's also insulting to our soldiers in terms of what they stand for and what their commitment is to this country and to the Muslims in this country," Keane told ABC News." Can you believe that shit. America is a Christian nation.

But late today, Jones vowed he would go ahead with the Quran burning, even knowing the concerns of Petraeus and Keane for the safety of U.S. troops because God has assured him he is right.

"What we are doing is long overdue. We are revealing the violence of Islam that is much, much deeper than we'd like to admit," Jones said in an interview with ABC News, quoting from stone tablets God wrote out for him.

A Facebook page dedicated to the day, entitled "International Burn A Koran Day" has more than 8,000 fans.

"On September 11th, 2010, from 6pm - 9pm, we will burn the Koran on the property of Dove World Outreach Center in Gainesville, FL in remembrance of the fallen victims of 9/11 and to stand against the evil of Islam. Islam is of the devil!" the page declares.

Later their will be a prayer meeting calling for a "Fuck You, American Soldiers'.

Rumors out of Washington hint that an Army hit team of Obama faithfuls may have been sent to take the pastor out.

I don't know, having some Christian nuts running around burning copies of the Koran seems pretty harmless when compared to the kidnapping, torturing/ killing, and/or beheading that the radical muslims do to people who aren't afraid to speak their minds.

I'd say there are clearly a lot of people on both sides who need to grow up, but one side more then the other.

These people care nothing about their fellow Christians, mainly those in the military who will feel the repercussions from this through all the violence it incites. Their ONLY goal is to draw attention to their piss ant little church, they are simply trying to one up Phelps and his band of nut bags, if they REALLY cared about their fellow Christians and the message that Christianity allegedly promotes, they would not do this.

I really don't care if they burn a religious book, and I'm not offended in the least. I would just prefer that if a religious organization were to go to an extreme like this that they would not single out any one religious document/book. That's hypocrisy.
