The seafood is safe to eat? Maybe from around Texas.... Go ahead, you go first....The gulf will be better than before? really?

Updated 4:51 p.m. ET | President Barack Obama struck an optimistic tone over the ongoing oil disaster Monday afternoon, saying that "things are going to return to normal" on the stricken Gulf Coast after much pain and frustration, and that the polluted waters will eventually be in better shape than before the leak began.

"Let me be clear: Seafood from the Gulf today is safe to eat, " he said, adding that his administration is intensifying monitoring efforts to make sure it stays that way..........

Since Obama looked so overly-relaxed and uninvolved in the Gulf spill he has obviously adopted the strategy of minimizing the spill even as he is trying to compare it to 9-11. He also made a point to go on an Ice Cream Tour of the Gulf to minimize the problem by saying not all places are being harmed . You can't have it both ways

What's nice about the current fish from the gulf is you no longer need to add your own oil to fry it.

The British have long laughed at Americans for naively believing any of the platitudes that our politicians earnestly throw at us. I am inclined to agree with them. I'm pretty sure I figured out that nothing that passes the lips of a president is true when I was about 12. How is it that so many people here still lap this crap up like water in the desert?

Had some shrimp, raw and fried oysters, and soft shelled crab on Sunday in Gulf Shores. Pretty fucking good.

Yes there are fishing areas in the gulf that are not affected at this time, the fish that is caught is being monitored very closely.

Gotta love the flyover and NJ faction weighing in on something they know absolutely nothing about.

I, for one, would rather not take any chance at eating crude and/or toxic chemicals. I realize it's being tested, but this is one time I would rather not take the chance.

I personally enjoyed the Reagan mention. Still clinging to the senile arms dealer to the world even after he's a corpse.

Do you guys all call each other before one of you posts something so the others can immediately jump into your "OMG Obama is teh eval!" circle jerk?

I think it is stupid and ridiculous to blame the oil spill on Obama and I think for the most part he is probably doing the best that he can about it.

However I don't think he should be saying stupid shit either, which he does quite a bit. Specifically the type of wishful platitudes that he is prone to spew out; as was noted elsewhere saying something doesn't make it true.

What else are they going to do at work?
