I mean look what the fuck happened in Irag because President Shit for Brains was to stubborn to listen to reason.

Exactly.

This whole 'flip flop' garbage seems to be just a distraction from Bush's stupid hard-headed management style that puts ego and partisanship ahead of everything else. I expect my elected politicians to serve the people not themselves or their party. Even if that means having to occasionally admit they were wrong and change their position as necessary to meet the interests of the people. The fact that Obama can do that is a big plus in my book, especially as Bush and the Pubs have made doing so an ugly word.

As for McCain's war record, yes, he is a 'war hero.' But sorry, there are lots of war heroes out there and just being one does make him fit for the Presidency all by itself. And if we have to pick a war hero to be our President, there are better war heroes out there IMO.

You answered your own question...

Dari is just another Obamabot partisan hack.

BTW, I think the whole "Obamabot" thing is a little overused, but it certainly fits here.

Obamabot my asshole. I had this conversation with uncles nine years ago when McCain was running the first time against Bush. My opinion hasn't changed since. People like you are what's wrong with America. You love cheap things. Preferring them over quality. Every kid that plays a fucking game is a "winner." There are no more losers. You believe in equality this and equality that. There are so many emos running around it's ridiculous. This country is becoming pussified right before my eyes. Heroism used to be a religion in America. Now it's a cheap commodity.

Obamabots like you who are too blinded to see through Obamessiah's lies and deception are what's wrong with America's youth and elitist. The Democratic Party is a party of losers. People blame Bush for everything, but keep in mind that the Democrats couldn't come up with anyone to defeat quite possibly the stupidest president in the history of the United States of America.

This is the typically consistant whiny response to America's youth likeing Obama. They throw around "cute" little naritives & meme's like "Obamabot" & "Messiah". They hate Obama for whatever reason and can't stand that he's popular. This is the GOP projecting Obama's popularity as a weakness.

This is a deeper sign of the pathetic state of the GOP: having tried and exhausted every other attack line on Obama, they are now trying to demonize him for "being popular". Let that sink in for a second. In an election that is decided by people voting for the candidate they like, Obama is being attacked for being too well-liked.

Of course, the McCain camp might say that people like him for his personality and not his policies. But wait - isn't that implying that the sacred "American People" are somehow shallow, superficial, or easily led astray, that they don't know what's good for them and need a grandpa McCain to give them some tough love? Someone should point this out and start a meme of "McCain hates the American people,"especially America's youth.

Ultimately though, I can see what McCain is banking on. He wants the old people, the disgruntled blue collar workers, the social conservative forum-dwellers, in short, the people who feel left behind by culture as a whole to come out in droves because they're angry angry about all those young people these days with their baggy pants, messy hair and fancy shoes and their newfangled "eye-pogs," and who's this Obama fellow they're all talking about? I don't like it, not one bit. By painting Obama as the captain of the football team, they're hoping that these others will take on the role of the freaks and nerds who try to sabotage the prom just to "show them."

The euphemisms are laughable and old school "Rove" predictable. Why don't they just get it over with and call Obama "uppity". As a matter of fact, maybe everytime they call him "presumptuous", "celebrity" or "arrogant" his spokespeople should ask if they would please stop calling him an "uppity'.

It's worth noting that these "Rovian" tactics are as old as the hills. In fact, Richard Hofstadter's classic "Anti-intellectualism in American Life" tracks the use of such tactics, in particular the perennial characterization of the "liberal" or "intellectual" as an effeminate pointy-headed academic out of touch with the values of manly, God-fearing, hard-working Americans.

Actually, hes talked about this in both his books and multiple speeches. About how to get things done in Congress and the Senate more often than not, you need to come to compromises with both sides in order to pass anything that you might find beneficial. It is also the reason for many of his "present" votes where no compromises were willing to be made, but the legislation contained things he agreed with, so he could not vote no against them.

Second, you can see McCain as a hero but there is no need to get all worked up over someone who thinks otherwise. Maybe you have low standards. Maybe not. You say you were a cop. Tell me, would you consider yourself a hero?

That would depend on my actions, and I never did anything heroic, so of course not.

And to think that just 48 hours ago in Missouri, Obama called oil drilling a "scheme" and was against it. Not only that, he suggested we'd save more oil by inflating our tires than from drilling (a laughable suggestion). Guess he saw the polls in Florida, where he made this speech, where 60% of Floridians support off-shore oil drilling. The "Gang of 10" Senators who proposed expanding off-shore oil drilling along with several other solutions probably had a hand in it too.

Yeah, because gas prices were sky-high the last time a Democrat was in the White House and dirt cheap all during the latest Republican administration...

And for you to call anyone a kook is irony at its most of ironic.

Does that mean he's drilling ANWR?

Couple that with your use of such insipid turds as "Obamabots" and "Obamessiah's" and I'm guessing you are one of those stupid youth whose teenage brain has been "poisoned" by listening to daddy's rants and his talk radio programs. With luck you'll grow out of it, maybe learn a little something about the real world, before you're old enough to vote.

This whole non-story is yet another empty attack by the same morally bankrupt scum who brought us the Swiftboat Liars and the rest of the slime from Campaign '04. After reading some of the comments in this thread, I can only shake my head at those who eagerly lap it up, apparently lacking the faintest glimmer of a clue as to how the world works once you leave school and actually have to work together with other people. I don't see how Obama's beliefs have changed a bit. He still recognizes that expanding off-shore drilling is a gimmick, another concession to big oil that will do nothing in the near term to reduce gas prices, and nothing in the long term to solve our fundamental problem: an over-dependence on oil.

Instead, all Obama is doing is acknowledging that he is not king. He doesn't always get his way. While he knows more drilling is a distraction from real solutions, he also recognizes the political reality that too many in Congress are fixated on the gimmick to kill it. Therefore, as somebody who understands how one must work together with others to get anything done, he's willing to allow them their talking point for their reelection campaigns so he can also get some of the real initiatives that may help. It's called compromise, an admittedly foreign concept after years of BushCo rule.

I typed it up really quick and didn't proofread, sue me!

The public is too lazy and is unwilling to sacrifice for convenience. When was the last time Obama stood for something and meant it? Fossil fuel is so 19th-20th century. We need more efficient transportation systems and increase efficiency.

Sounds like Obama's plan? I still won't vote for him. I don't like him or his supporters. He is too inexperienced and is unfit to be commander in chief in my opinion.

Yeah, yeah, bleat on American society hater, bleat on. You obviously don't have any children. Even my 17 year old is taking an interest in the candidate's and the way the country is headed.

TV journalism it's not about investigation or objectivity but sound bytes - and if there's no story then making something out of nothing. The information on the political blogs and what is on TV are completely different. The media journalists are doing their jobs - i.e. the networks are owned by big corporations who benefit from current Republican economic policies - and it's much easier to report about what someone is wearing than truly examining the cause of our country's current economic and other woes.

Mindless, manipulated spouters of conventional wisdom" equals savviness. And, as has been made perfectly clear, nothing trumps that."They simultaneously and openly fret that they're being unfair to Republicans and too biased towards Obama. McCain complaining, to reporters no less, that the media was focusing too much on Obama last week should be the prime example of this.

McCain had been goading Obama for months, challenging his national security credentials -So he goes to Iraq and other countries. So when it turned out to be a success - McCain and the GOP look like jealous, bitter 7th graders who are no longer at the cool kids lunchtable.

The Paris, Brittny ads-only make it look that much worse for the GOP. The latest McCain/Rove offensive plainly appeals to a traditional racist fear: uppity, aggressive black men are coming for our daughters. The press, being irresponsible, and having peculiar standards for what is newsworthy (if someone, somewhere, said it, it's news) always whips These slanders into an intoxicating brew of malice. Lurid references to starlets, blondes, anorexia, etc., are already stoking resentment, suspicion, and hatred. They rely on these tactics because they bring results. I hear a lamb bleating, They are so out of touch with what is going on, that they still consider Paris/Brittny current "hip" news. It's not Obama's fault that he's a popular, charismatic. He didn't give himself any "Messianic" labels like you people & media toads like Tucker Carlson likes to assert every chance he gets.

Indeed it's very laughable all of the labels: "elitist", "arrogance", all of the tired cliches of past elections are being used against a man who grew up in a single-parent home, lived in various countries, worked his way up (not married into it), had loans to pay off.

While McCain is married to a beer heiress. Has $500 shoes, him and his wife's enormous credit card debts ($750K); not paying their property taxes in California; what she spends on clothes - in other words they are part of the country club set. Both come from upper middle class or higher backgrounds. Yet McCain is a man of the people - a "hero." He's the only war veteran I've seen who calls himself a hero, courageous. Yet he's not "arrogant" & "elitist".

It appears both he and the GOP don't even really know the meanings of the words they use to label Obama - making their intellect & insecurity all the more visible.

I wasn't expecting much out of you Obama haters & the GOP - but I was expecting better than "nanny-nanny-poo-poo".

It could get much worse. I would say 10 dollar a gallon of fuel would be worse. Increasing the scope of corn based ethanol forcing skyrocketing food prices would make it worse. I would say forcing UHC that is on par with medicare/medicaid would be worse. I would say increasing my tax burden would make it worse.

Things can get much worse if Obama/Pelosi/Reid have complete control of this country. The thing that pisses me off is I would of voted democrat if they would of put up any moderate. Instead last 3 they put up have been extreme leftists. Maybe if they lose this time they will learn their lesson and next time they will nominate a moderate.

Thank You, Sir- very succinct.

The problem with the far right, as usual, is that given what they want, they don't want to give anything in return. You're right about BushCo date rape bipartisanship and compromise- With us or against us, my way or the highway, pick your variant... Compromise is for other people.

In returning to their standard mantras, they're trying to deny that there's been some sort of sea change, as seen in the 2006 election. It's OK with me- it just means that they need and deserve a very serious "attitude adjustment" if they're to see the light, ever...
