I don't recall Obama ever saying otherwise and he was the one who insisted it be reinstated. As for the booing, opinion after was it was related to returning God to the platform. People wanted to embrace the faith portion without narrowing the scope to just one belief system.

Why is this even a position? Israel's capitol should be an Israeli issue. They can have it where they want it.

He never said otherwise. He just refused to say it. There's a video floating around where someone asked the press sec. or other representative to name the capital of Israel and the rep refused "You know our policy" was the reply. Time and again the question was asked with some laughter at the expense of the stupid non-answer that this person was forced to give.
