Obama's stance and previous statements and votes on draconian gun control laws was known by everybody. You should have seen the gun stores for 6 months after his election, people were buying everything in site, 1000s of rounds of ammunition, magazines, the price on "assault rifles" went through the roof, manufacturers simply couldn't meet the demand. Magainzes were almost impossible to find, etc.

It was a very logical and smart move by anybody who paid attention to this president.

Someone is profiting off someone else's paranoia, that's gotta be a first.

I am, of course, referring to paranoia.

Why would it be paranoia based on Obama's statements and voting record at the state level in IL? Paranoia is unfounded fear, prepared is prediction of events based on the past.

Call me prepared.

Actually if you remember the threads from the time, we were all laughing at you idiots for wasting your money stockpiling ammo. You get laughed at a lot on here though, so it might have just blended into the background noise for you.

I guess you can call me a crackpot, but I consider myself to be a fairly moderate person in general, and I think that given the trends over the past 20 years, the time when ammunition is worth more than any amount of money is likely to come during my lifetime. :\

Your problem is believing it's a lot of money to me. I've already gone though what I bought then and keep it stocked. Silly liberal.

You're not a moderate person, and it's not likely.

It's money you could have spent on literally anything else, but you pissed it away due to a combination of stupidity and paranoia. Silly mentally ill Spidey.

I don't think you get it yet. Ammunition get's used/shot. I already used all that I stock piled and then replaced that. It's not just to sit there and look pretty. And at 15 bucks a piece the magazines are hardly a lot of money.

But just like a liberal, only you like to decide what people can/should spend their money on. That is one consistent message from the libtards, that they know better how to spend your own money.

I don't think you get it yet, if you used it and replaced it you're still maintaining an abnormally large amount of ammunition out of stupidity and paranoia. Your stupidity and paranoia also extends to the fact that you think I'm trying to decide what you spend your money on.

Let's be very clear, I'm laughing at you for spending your money like an idiot. If you stopped being so insane and stupid, I would have fewer things to laugh at. I genuinely enjoy reading the crazy babble that comes out of your mouth, and you're a lesson to all of us as to the dangers of untreated mental illness. This board owes you a great debt, spidey.

The fact that you feel a need to be armed at all times makes you paranoid. Whether or not it's because the evil gubberment is gonna come and enslave you or because you fear getting robbed - you're being paranoid.

The American paranoia is not exactly unknown to the rest of the world.

Some people just need to live a life paralyzed by fear... Gun nuts, religious nuts... usually a combination of the 2!

Well at least this man is making sure none of us forget why we use the term "gun nut". He is a shining example of it.

I have to laugh at this statement. Why all the gun control legislation if not for fear of what I MIGHT do with my guns? Again, just unfounded paranoia.

I thought I would see spin and deflection, but it really does look like even Republicans are shaking their heads at Wayne LaPierre's paranoia.

I don't think it was unreasonable for gun lovers to purchase previously banned items early on in Obama's presidency. He clearly isn't a fan of guns so it wasn't a long shot there would be new bans and restrictions. At this point though it's very clear that guns are not a priority for him.

True, too many other rights to trample on. Obamacare anyone?

It's funny cause most gun nuts live in safe neighborhoods and still feel the NEED for guns to be safe at all, then the next level of paranoia is the constant fear (for example Spidey in this thread) is CONSTANTLY afraid the gov is gonna come and take away their protection.

This should be good....please tell me the criteria that a neighborhood must meet in order to be considered "safe."

I hope 911 response times are a factor in your little matrix or study that you have almost certainly created/read before making such a sweeping statement.

I'm guessing probably not so much a study as a cacophony of voices that only he can hear.

That there would be another assault weapons ban like from 1994 was a very, very, very real possibility given Obama's past statements, votes and action (and coming from IL legislature, just about the most anti-gun state in the union) and a super majority in congress. And you're dead wrong, I'm not scared or afraid about gonna come and take them. Recent rulings and state level action have been quite good for gun rights.

But that doesn't mean I don't pay attention to what was a very real possibility and PREPARED for said possibility. There's a difference between paranoia/fear that you paint and preparing for likely outcomes. If I was right, then I got all kinds of pre-ban goodies, could even sell for a damn pretty penny. If I was wrong (and was, I was about damn sure he'd do something) I still got plenty of goodies that will get used. This is what you call a win/win for me.

That you guys view preparing for likely outcomes as "fear and paranoia" is interesting to say the least. Yadda, yadda, I have fire extenguishers, weather radios, generators, yadda, all because of fear, yadda. Oh, and ready.gov says I need a can opener.
