The activists are likely to get the debate they were looking for soon enough. President Obama's nomination of Goodwin Liu, a law professor at the University of California at Berkeley, to a spot on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit has energized the left and outraged the right. His hearing and the battle over his nomination could tell much about the Obama administration's willingness to appoint controversial nominees to the bench, including the Supreme Court.

What are you willing to give up?
Because it will require you to give up something.

I will give up my rage that I have to pay for the sins of others. I will go up on the cross and be crucified for what we did to Black people. I will die to my wallet so you can be saved.

Any act done at a societal/governmental level will require giving something up in its very nature.

What an idiot. If he supports reparations, he should pay up first. How much is he worth? 1 or two million? Take his money first, then Obamas. Maybe that'll shut those two up.

You wish to oppress people under tyranny such as that? Yeah - looks like I called you spot on in the other thread whether you'll admit it or not.

Blood for blood is not a good way to ensure peaceful civility amongst the races. If you need reparations then we'll need reparations for the reparations and so forth and so on. It's like the cycle of violence, yet you support this one?

Obama, who attended a Black Liberation theology church for a couple decades, supports a judge who supports reparations? "White folks' greed runs a world in need" Obama?

Well, DUH!

It's the duty of government to view people as unequals based on race. It is their duty to arbitrarily decide what actions must be taken to prop up one over another.

This is Barack Obama, the wealth re-distributor.

Heh, just realized why "the left" brands conservatives as racist.

If their mindset is that the moral thing to do is to separate us in to groups and treat us differently "to correct past injustices"...

That the opposite stance, that we all should be treated as equals, must be immoral, must be racist.

Because if treating everyone of all races as equals is viewed as moral, then their goals are unobtainable, their ideology a sham.

It's a game to "the left" with the deck stacked against the commoner.

Just screwing around. Every time the word reparations is mentioned in P & N it's like the conductor tapped his baton and all the autonomic piano roles folk have rolled up within them unroll and begin to play in a well rehearsed and oh so tiresome cacophony of robotic sounds.

So does this mean that were going to keep our treaties with the American Indian. NOT . The judge is a duper until we settle with the American indians . Reparation is a label pasted on to somethong else. In so far as this country is concerned . I see many people here talking about the middle east and the steiners, Yet not have any compasion for the people we displaced . Ironic isn't it.

Just watched the utube. That judge is insane . I am sorry for what happen to the Blacks. But I had nothing to do with it . Same with the Irish and the Chinamen building the rails . I had nothing to do with it . Notice this anti white american doesn't discuss the American Indian . The only reparation the Blacks Irish Chinamen going to get from me is a ticket back to there homeland if thats what they want .

What is wrong with the people of this country its insane. When talking reparation in USA. Only one race comes to my mind . The Indian . I think most can see and understand that . Thats is anyone with common sense. Which leaves the Leaders out of it as they are brain dead. God I don't want whats coming to us . But bring it . The insanity in America is overwhelming all of us.

That is an unpopular opinion even among most Liberals and would never come to fruition. In addition his position on the appellate court wouldn't enable him to make it happen as it would have to be proposed and voted on in Congress and then signed into law by the President which wouldn't happen.

Black people do not deserve any reparations at all. It's a ridiculous concept. It's ridiculous to even consider it. Foolish liberals, and their foolish ideas.

I'd agree that it's not going to happen any time soon, but putting someone that has such an extreme view of things (well outside the mainstream) on the 9th circuit court of appeals seems absurd. Anyone who would support some of his views is apparently of the rational thought and analysis required to hold such an important position.

The "right" has gone apeshit over too many silly things over the past year and a half, but preventing people with radical views from getting to the high levels of the judicial systems is something worth fighting for.
