Who are they polling anyways? It seems almost impossible to fathom that 50% of Americans want McCain.... I mean CMON! Have they SEEN him speak? Have they READ his policies??? What are the pollsters getting at? Ratings in the mainstream media to keep the audience watching??

I mean honestly, I see come election time: McCain 70. Obama 200. Landslide all the way...

Watch that change over the next week. Obama should be leading by about 8 points in most polls.

I'm glued to the news, I'll be watching ;)

8 Points though still seems a little low imo. How can 70+% of Americans not like bush, but be for McCain? That's 20% in change I don't get.

I believe the problem is people have read what Hussein has said and managed to decipher enough from his "policies" to know whom to vote for.

Pretty much. They read his policies and will vote for D come November. Obviously this is a problem for the neo-cons.

I'm still asking myself how 30% of Americans still like Bush

BHO is going to surge in the polls in the next couple months, assuming nothing out of the relatively-ordinary happens.

it might settle back down into something close to 50:50 around September, after the VP's have been announced and the conventions are over.

if polls meant anything, we'd be talking about presumed nominees Clinton and Guiliani right now and which one is more capable of fixing the mess that President Kerry made.

the RCP average is currently Obama +2.8... probably not something us Obama supporters want to pop the champagne corks over in a week after Obama's had some of the best press coverage since his 11-state victory and McCain delivered the worst speech of the year.

Most polls still don't include people who only have a cell phone (no-landline). That's missing 14.5% of the adult US population, which is a large enough chunk that the statistical validity of the polling methods is starting to come into question ("random" sampling that never calls 1/5 of all households is no longer truly random).

How that pans out for the candidates, you can guess yourselves from the no-cell phone demographics:
A number of demographic statistics shed light on exactly who is leaving traditional landlines behind. The largest percentage (56.9) are adults living with unrelated roommates, though adults renting their home (30.9 percent) were far more likely than adults who own their home (7.3 percent) to go entirely wireless. Age is another factor in landline abandonment, as 18-24 and 25-29 year-olds were far more likely to go wireless (31 and 34.5 percent, respectively) than adults aged 30-44 (15.5 percent), 45-64 (8 percent), and 65 or older (2.2). Adults living in poverty (27.4 percent) were more likely to live in a household with wireless telephones than those with higher income.

Billary caused an issue and split democrats into 2 pieces. I am thinking after tommorow's billary's announcement and few days, Obama will gain a few points, possibly like another 3% ...

I remember right after Kerry won, polls showed him up 20+ points over Bush.
I wouldn?t pay attention to polls just yet.
Mccain and Obama haven?t even had their first debate yet.

Knowing American's and detachment, I doubt many even know Obama
is the winner. They probably still think its ongoing between Hillary and Obama.

A better clue and a very stable clue would be the poll as to those against the war and for the war.
Just plug in Mccain in the "for the war" figures and Obama in the "against the war" figures.

Now THATS a realistic over all... And it will be a stable figure over the next months.

People are sick of the war and want it over...Period.
Progress over there has NOTHING to do with it.
People just want it to end. End of discussion.

Have YOU read Obama's polocies? I doubt it, since he hardly reveals what he has planned, but when he does, the media doesnt cover it at all. He wants to kill our military and prevent us from using SUVs and heating/air conditioning. Those are some things that he has said (not in those words) in speaches. Do you really want that??

Embellish, much?

Prevent us from using heating/air conditioning? He was trying to make a point about us being more aware of decisions that may affect the environment. Oh, wait, Pubble-kins don't care about the environment. My bad.

I've never heard him voice those policies, nor have I read that on his site. Can you link to where he said that, please? Specifically him wanting to kill the military and prevent us from using SUV's and heating and cooling.
Thank you.

Since Obama and McCain have yet to debate anything face to face how can anyone take poll results seriously. The spotlight has been on the race between HRC and BHO for some time so why isn't McCain way behind? Could it be that people have heard/read what BHO stands for and they want none of it.

Are you serious? You really think that people are going to associate Obama with 'against the war' and vote based soley on that. You really think that is a 'REALISTIC' figure? Hah, dude seriously?
