Obama invokes Teddy Roosevelt in speech attacking GOP policies

Obama finally said the Tea Party is a popularist movement. He tossed another DNC talking point under the bus.
 
LOL Obama desperately wants to be identified with any President who isn't Obama. Except maybe for the natural comparison - Carter.
 
kinda hard to give a crap about what any politicians says. when he takes on at&t and fixes warrantless wiretaps get back to me

Remember, he also looks up to Lincoln. It's easy to invoke names that are respected, and hope that will bring respect to you. With any luck, he'll go against a candidate like Gingrich who can just pull facts out to counter what he says. I've watched Gingrich turn reporters questions on themselves enough times (not just in recent debates) to know he can probably destroy Obama in a debate.

What planet have you been on? The full quote is 'speak softly and carry a big stick'. ie: be as diplomatic as possible, but be ready to use your military if you need to. Obama's foreign policy is explicitly that. He's the guy who pushes diplomacy all the time, while having absolutely zero problem with blowing people up. (in fact he's more comfortable with that than I would like) What were you expecting him to do?

Sure though, I wish he would do a lot more trust busting. Funny thing that a guy so business friendly is labeled as an OMGCOMMIE.

I hope and pray that Obama goes up against Gingrich. Clinton thoroughly destroyed Gingrich when they went head to head and Obama thoroughly owned Clinton. This election will be a laugher if the Republicans are stupid enough to nominate that clown.

For the record, I don't think Republicans are stupid enough to actually nominate him, but I do sincerely hope that I am wrong.

To what are you referring?

Osama? We were gonna kill him, end of story.
Other dude who was killed and was US citizen? No attempt to capture, only kill.
Gadhafi? We didn't do diplomacy there. We followed the UN in.
Iraq? We backed out.
Afghanistan? Again, what diplomacy?

To which Clinton do you refer? Bill Clinton basically destroyed him by allowing a joke to be misconstrued.

You have a very odd view of what actually happened in the world over the last few years.

Osama? Since we were totally gonna kill him, I guess actually killing him doesn't count. Ok.

Gadhafi? We took part in a multinational NATO effort there, it was not following the UN in. In other words, we worked with other nations to accomplish our foreign policy goals more easily, which is exactly diplomacy. Furthermore, NATO basically ignored the UN's resolution which was to establish a no fly zone. They took that and basically turned it into an aerial free for all.

Iraq? By backing out you mean we complied with our treaty obligations that Bush signed?

Afghanistan: What do you mean 'what diplomacy'? The phrase means use diplomacy when possible and force when necessary. What diplomatic solution do you know about for Afghanistan?

Bill Clinton. He allowed nothing, Gingrich is just too undisciplined to handle people like Clinton and Obama. They will eat him alive.

Not to mention our good friend Newt's tenuous grasp on a lot of policy. There's a reason people say that he's what stupid people think a smart person sounds like.

It's pretty interesting that people are still trying to attack Obama on foreign policy. I can't think of any president who has accomplished this much at such a minimal cost to the US. When comparing how successful Obama has been to Bush (and Bush basically ran on foreign policy the second time), it's night and day.

This is a syndrome I see. When they want to criticize him, they make a big deal of any tiny issue. They forget to compare him to actual predecessors.

While a previous president might have gotten us into a wrong war or allowed large scale crimes against the constitution, they'll scream "Obama apologized for a wrong!!!!!"
