He's gotta be on drugs to support that.

Or he could simply approve of punitive measures to discourage piracy. No theft = no fine.

If you don't like it, maybe it will discourage you.

Using this logic, we should chop off the hands off pickpockets and shoplifters. Or maybe just kill them.

Nah. It just makes us more angry, and in turn, causes more "piracy".

I'd be all for it if we did start killing more freaks for killing and chopping off fingers for stealing. Ummmm, theft? yeah? really?

You do realize that there is probably 250 million files that have been downloaded today don't you? What are you gonna start seeing raids on peoples home for one file or pic that got sent through email?

Do you have kids? Better pull the plug now. You download an album and you might as well kiss your life away.

I might side with this, if they made the same rule for the asshole stealing the record at a record store. All you do is get a slap on the wrist but if you d/l it, your screwed.

Why the double standards? Where is the logic in this? And no this won't discourage me unless I see Masses of people getting hit with this, then maybe. I might switch to newsgroups or some other untraceable service. I wouldn't be so open about I guess.

You have issues if you side with this.

Or fine them $150,000, after all they are no worse than those stealing on the Internet.

IIRC, a few years ago ATOT itself banned (or was it merely discouraged?) posting entire news articles for awhile precisely because doing so deprives the original newspaper/magazine website of revenue. If an article is posted in its entirety, how many people actually bother clicking through to the original article unless there's an interesting picture or video?

For the most part I think '4 paragraphs' and a link to the original was the standard 'netiquette' but seldom is followed anymore ...
