A majority of voters voted for Obama.
yet, Not only do the Repubs still control the House, they still control it by a large number. WTF?

So why didnt the House switch to Democratic control?

I'll actually wager you will see GOP pick ups in the house. Reason being Obama just didn't campaign for Congrssional candidates. Nor did he have any appear with him at campaign stops.

Redistricting plays a part, but even without that, it's unlikely control would have moved to the Dems. Obama looks like he's going to win, but this wasn't a "wave" election. Senate will likely hold, and that's only after Akin and Mourdock sad weird things about rape.

Sam Wang at Princeton Election Consortium said gerrymandering of districts has given Republicans about a 2.5% home field advantage (i. e. Obama has to have about 2.5% lead in national vote just for EVEN playing field):

"The generic national Congressional ballot, a loose predictor of the national House vote, is tied (D+0.0+/-1.1%, n=3, Nov. 1-4). However, this is unlikely to be enough for Democrats to take control of that chamber of Congress. As I pointed out several weeks ago (“Bush v. Gore times five,” October 16), partisan redistricting of an unusual intensity has created a situation in which one side, the GOP, has an advantage of 2.5% before any votes are counted".

Look at difference between what is happening in Senate races vs. House...

Many people prefer one party owning one branch and the opposite doing the same with the other.

You should turn on Fox. It's like a funeral procession.

I wish I could! Unfortunately not only am I stuck at home with a cold, but no cable either. It's okay, I'll just enjoy internet tears.

Seriously, does anyone know how much money spidey put down on this? I think it's at least $1k.

I'm pretty sure at one point he said 1-1.5k here and another 2k on another forum...

EDIT: Here is your answer.
