Obama ground game sighting

Found myself inundated by Obama stuff today on campus (UNLV) - from posters and stickers to people walking around with buttons and fliers and tshirts and every other political crap you can imagine - they are making sure every student knows they can vote early. Apparently right off campus there is an early voting location and they are doing everything to make sure students get over there. Seems to be even indications of shuttles being offered - regardless of political affiliation btw - although its just right across the street.

Anyone else encountering this yet? I remember 04 and being at U of Arizona and not seeing even remotely this sort of ground game on election day - and this is two weeks out still. I'd say there is a good 30-40 people in obama paraphernalia wandering around campus letting you know where to go. Yet to see one single mccain/palin person and this is supposed to be a tossup state.

I doubt McCain is going to be setting up at shuttle services at universities so that isn't surprising, but cool you get to see it in action. I'm in Northern California so I see nothing up here.

No pot initiative - nor marriage questions here....just really no brainer things like "Would eliminate an unconstitutional requirement that a person must reside in Nevada for 6 months prior to an election in order to be eligible to vote in that election"

And i dont vote till election day...im one of them old timers that likes the whole stigma with the comes along with voting on the day.

If you trust the word of some of the bloggers out there, Obama's ground game is miles ahead of McCain's in many swing states. A benefit of all the money and motivated supporters he's got I guess.

that explains alot... From reading your posts for the past few months, I would guess that you are a republican, and somewhat a bizarre one at that... Not extreme, or too far right, just bizarre ;)

FWIW, as my otherwise unfounded opinion because I've never met loki, yeah, your characterization seems to fit him like a glove.

Who TF knows?

I'm pretty liberal on most issues, I've just got some deep-seated neo-conic tendencies.

oh, and I'm also a giant racist :p

Las Vegas and Reno always go Democrat.

This is usually due to the schools and the unions, plus the standard Democratic type city vote.

It takes the rural ares to come through to counter balance those two areas.
Where Vegas has grown over the last 4 years, the Dems may have enough to keep the edge against the rural votes.

I suppose it's not worth considering that people DO change their minds ;)

I partially blame the media for this, but we seem to have this idea that being a red state or a red area means every single person there votes Republican and will continue to do so until the end of time. I'm not sure that's a very good assumption.

The increase in population over those two areas has been between 15-25% over the past 4 years. both areas are about 2-1 or 3-1 Democratic.

The growth (some from CA) will increase the numbers in favor of the Dems. The amount of changes have less an impact than the growth.

Until the Dems break the perception that they want to take from the workers and give to the have nots; many rural areas across the country are going to be leary. They work hard and do not like the idea of the government taking their tax $$ as handouits.
