So, Obama has declared that the H1N1 "Pandemic" constitutes a "National Emergency" and has signed a declaration of the same. This should open doors to local health officials to take appropriate steps to respond to a growing number of reported cases of H1N1. While most will see it as (and it probably is) a good thing, it sent chills up my spine reflecting back on the monstrosity Bush signed into law NSPD 51. This bears a close eye in my mind because of the potential for abuse as well as how quiet the media seems to be about it. National Emergencies aren't exactly routine so it really has me wondering why this is so quiet.
