Obama: Change is Hard

It's funny how everyone got swept away by his campaign promises and now we all discover (along with Obama himself) that he is only one part of the government! He can't do everything that he promised! Who would have thought?

I think this is a good article that provides a good, short overview of the situation. I especially liked his phrase, "But change is hard". No kidding?!!! I nearly laughed out loud that he is only figuring this out now.

I would like to meet people that think politicians are actually going to keep any of their promises to the public. If you donate large sums to them, they will keep their promise.

The way I read him saying "change is hard" is that he is reminding people of this; he's been saying change would not be easy long before he was elected president.

I lol at all the people who, after two months in office, are upset Obama hasn't ended the recession, reset the Dow to 14000, solved global warming, and ended all political scheming in Washington. And those are the fair-weather Democrats.

Thank god Obama doesn't listen to the 24hr news cycle or daily polls. People don't carry about the green energy proposals now so much as the economy & oil prices have collapsed. Sure as shit tho, the economy and $3-4 gas will be back and voters will be angry we didn't fix it and we need to drill baby drill to hurry up and patch fix the problem, F the environment.

Obama seems to be working on a much longer and well thought out plan to solve many problems properly and put us on a more sustainable economic path. For all Obama has proposed, he really hasn't taken on other huge issues such as Medicare, SS, Defense spending, the AMT and bringing down the budget spending. We've got a lot of probs and its going to take a lot of time and focus to fix.

Meh, I think he was just channeling Capt. Obvious here. Change is hard, and inevitably takes time. Nothing in Washington happens overnight. Well, nothing good anyway...

Aside from the record crippling debt hes running up

Exactly... What a poorly thought out comment that Obama "is only figuring this out now.
" he has been straight with us since day one.

Except that he didn't make it clear from the beginning. He put it in everyone's mind that when he is elected, things will change and that's how he got elected. Sure, we can look back now and think that he meant that it would be a long and hard thing but back in the day he played on people not realizing that.

Where did he say he would fix and/or change everything day one? Who thought that, You? I didnt, I listened to him speak during the election every chance I could. I heard all of his major speaches and a whole lot of stumping. I found him to be very realistic about what he could and couldn't do. If you got an unrealistic impression that he could do it all in 2 short months that your misunderstanding. Not mine, and not America's.

Now, if by the 2012 election season he hasn't done some major work toward change, I will seriously have lost faith in him, and will consider the other candidates... But in 2 short months, and THIS f$%^ed up economy, what do you expect to have happened?

What? He never said that. It's all about the impression he gave people and what people believed. Sure, it's not 100% his fault, but the end result is the same.

Like I said, I listened to him speak alot during the election and I never got that impression. I am not aware of anyone else that thought he could get it all done in 2 months. Maybe it was just you.

What is it that you think he should/could have done in 2 months?

My prediction:

"Its only been 3 months! You can't change everything in 3 months.. "

"Its only been 6 months! You can't change everything in 6 months.. "

"Its only been 12 months! You can't change everything in 12 months.. "

"Its only been 24 months! You can't change everything in 24 months.. "

"Its only been 36 months! You can't change everything in 36 months.. "

"We need 4 more years to truly get change going.. "

Blah blah blah. He and his party set these expections.

Ya, but you're just an ass. So your prediction, and opinion mean absolutely nothing to anyone but yourself.

But seriously, if we don't see him having taken major and clear steps toward changing the way Washington works by the next election season, I will be right there with you NOT voting for Obama.

My prediction......whatever he does you will never be satisfied!
After all you would rather have had 4 more years of the same BS that GWB started!!
I feel sorry for all the disgruntled Repubicans like you....4,8,12,16 more years of having a Democrat as the POTUS!!! hahahaaaaaaa

I won't be satisfied if he keeps running up record spending. Since about 20 of the past 30 years have been run by Republicans - history does not seem to be on your side for 16 years of democratic rule. In 4 years there will be a new Republican candidate hopefully back to their roots.

I didn't vote but only on the local level. THe Fl. thing and the MN thing this year. Just puts horriable thoughts in my mind. Si I decide not to bet on a horse in those races. I just believe 99% are corrupt.

Even tho I don't like one thing Obama has done so far. Its still to early to judge. My biggest fear is A short pop up. Than the final blow.

Investing in Americas poor right now is not the ANS. National medical coverage is a joke. I will tell you why. I am old . I have had bad accidents . 100s of thousands in hospital cost. Yet I owe no one. I am middle class. I don't see the problem . I don't care if the person down the street can get medical care or not. I care for that person. But its not my problem . I am socially responsiable however. But I am not a Freaken retard either. You can't tie our taxes to ever rising medical cost. I am for socialize medicne tho. But not Taxing me threw uncontrolled cost rises . BS.

The Government has to socialize hospitals doctors nurses drugs medical equipment companies. WE the people control there pay . No more Iam a DOC. BS. Same goes for law . needs to be socialized.

If we had a national election on these 2 items . Just like states do . So if states can do it so can federal. If the people actually got to choose . The way I described in some form would win easily.

As for welfare reform . Its a no brainer. We get off of welfair and go on work fair. Many of these people can be used as daycare workers for those who work on local state and federal projects.

Everthing should be monitored . So when it fails . Everone will see its not the system but the people . End of debates. .

Powerful, firmly entrenched special interests that wield a lot of political leverage, powers that "might" even rival or exceed Obama as POTUS, is what's holding up change.....NOT Obama himself.

Tell us something we don't already know.

The change I am looking for is basically stepping away from GWB's foreign and domestic policies:
1. Hiring competent people,
2. Stop torturing people
3. Not invading another country
4. Not forwarding the Religious Right's agenda
5. Choicing US Supreme Court judges that will not support over turning Roe vs Wade, 1960's Civil Rights legislation, etc.
6. Lower the volume of the saber rattling

You get the idea.
