Obama Breaks 1-Day Fundraising Record, Puts Out 2-Minute Ad In Key States

It's no secret Hollywood loves Obama. Must be that liberalism running rampant in CA. Hollywood raised $11 million for Obama on Tuesday during a fund raiser, with a lot of familiar faces in the crowd.

So what does $66 million months and $11 million days buy you? An impressive 2-minute long face-to-face ad that will be airing in key states Obama is targeting for the election.

Sen. Barack Obama is airing an unusual two-minute TV ad about the economy, calling for "shared responsibility? and ?real regulation? to rein in an ?anything-goes culture on Wall Street.?

The ad is part of the campaign?s effort to respond confidently and convincingly to this weekend?s financial meltdown.

Two-minute ads are sometimes used in the opening or closing days of a campaign, but are rarely seen in the heat of the fall.

The ad begins running Wednesday on national cable stations, and will air in Florida and other battleground states ? in some states, heavily.

The flip side to that coin is that Obama attended a Hollywood fundraiser the same day that the full weight of our current economic situation hit the major news outlets.

McCain has his gaffe about our economic fundamentals being sound, but McCain is also trying to paint Obama as just another liberal elitist Senator, and Obama's wining and dining with the Hollywood elite while the country is in economic crisis doesn't do much to help his agent of change persona.

If anything, it plays into the typical Republican talking point of liberal Hollywood having a direct dialogue with Democrat candidates, just as Republicans receive criticism for having the same relationship to corporate America.

The independents and swing voters will look at all of the money raised by these events, look at the current situation, and wonder how the Democrat elite are any different than the Republican elite.

You're right, Obama should have been out with volunteers sandbagging Wall Street and handing out canned food to ex-Lehman employees :roll:

Of course, he did discuss the economy front-and-center during his fund raiser in Hollywood. What does McCain discuss during his fund raising stops? I personally don't know because they're usually closed off to the media.

Obama needs to run a few national messages. I think the disconnect between battleground states and the actual important states means we don't get a sense of the national message. It would give his message some cohesiveness that people could discuss and digest.

You are right...Hollywood is not to blame for our current economic crisis.

We can start the blame line from the Reagan Administration with its trickle down economics, the Clinton Administration for opening the door that created both the dot.com and real estate bubbles, the Bush Administration for substituting the dot.com bubble with the real estate bubble, and BOTH parties for not advocating government oversight and regulation of the whole mess.

Not the topic of this thread...although I did mention that Republicans are just as guilty with their association to other lobby groups.

The media was cut off from the Obama Hollywood event as well...can't risk having pictures of Obama standing arm and arm with the Hollywood liberal elite.

What they spend is a small, insignificant fraction compared to what the country gains or loses during the presidency.

Obama and McCain combined might spend a total of $1 billion in this campaign.

The last 8 years of Bush's failed economic policies have cost Wall Street over $4 trillion in market capitalization.

We've also added over $4 trillion to our national debt under Bush.

We spend almost $15 billion per month occupying a country that never attacked us or posed a threat to us.

$1 billion for an election is loose change.

Nothing new here. Soros groups and the libs and gays in Hollywood made Obama their choice back in 07 (It was Geffen that threw Hillary under the bus first ). Part of his payback to them is SIECUS driven sex ed for 5 yr olds. Not even Hillary would have done that so fast.
