I'm not sure I understand what you mean by uneducated. Do you mean didn't finish HS? Finished HS but didn't go to college? No schooling at all? You don't need a ton of education to get into the trades.

The thing you are underestimating are the amount of illegal kids that are graduating HS and moving on to college to get professional degrees. Its much bigger than you think. In 5-10 years, your job will be up for grabs. That is why we need to figure this thing out and quickly. The common misconception of a dumb illegal strolling across the rio to pick apples isn't what we are dealing with.

My job is always up for grabs. It's a global economy. My company could hire someone in India or China, right now. It's nothing new for us engineers. We don't feel entitled to our jobs based on our nationality, we have jobs based on our skills and productivity.
If an illegal kid is smart enough and motivated enough to overcome everything, go to college, get a graduate degree, and prove himself good enough to take my job, not only should he have it, but he should be given a green card and a path to citizenship, because we need as many smart motivated people as we can get in this country.
