Really? Seriously? You think it's because you didn't communicate the message or agenda well enough? After all the polls showing dissatisfaction with your policies, what you and congress were doing, that the American people simply don't want what you're pushing? Nah, that couldn't be it.

This guy really does think we're too stupid to understand. It simply doesn't enter his mind that the people have been paying close attention to him and his policies and simply reject them. He just doesn't get it.

President Barack Obama is acknowleding in the wake of this week's election rout that he hasn't been able to successfully promote his economic-rescue message to anxious Americans.

Make up your mind. I thought he was the greatest speaker to ever be president.

Yeah, this. Isn't he an amazing speaker? If he can't "get through" his message to the american people, who can? We couldn't possibly disagree with him, that just can't be!

This is why you won't see him change course or move to the center. It's just not in him to do so. He's a true believer.

He's already in the center. The Republicans are so far right, they don't even recognize their own old ideas.

Give me a break. It is not that he could not deliver his message, it is that we do not want to hear his message or it was rejected. Hitler probably felt the same way, but that does not mean he had a good message.

People are not interested in his Marxist Agenda.

I'm glad he is finally getting this. It's pretty clear most folks value appearance over substance. Just look at the comments in this thread. Socialism, rawr!

Obama should acknowledge that he had no spine when it came to the public option.

While Obama himself is progressive in his approach to social issues he is very much a centrist when it comes to economic and military governance. You youngsters may not remember but before the internets and cable news the republican party was a big tent party. There were liberal republicans, there were socially liberal republicans as well.

Case in point look at the recently retired supreme court judge...he was appointed by a republican, was considered in his day a right wing addition to the court. What happened was over the decades the republican party-mostly post 80s-started their march to the extremes....

Look at the centrist hero of the republican party.....you know the maverick.....he had to jump so far right to beat Heyward that he no longer resembles his old self..

Back in the day Tip O'neill and Reagan would fight it out ideologically during the day and get hammered together at a bar in the evening...Ever hear the story of the tatoo'd tiger on Tip's ass?

The democrats made a huge mistake in not staying ahead of the outrage over health care. The message has been so deeply ingrained in the populace that its bad no amount of messaging will fix that until people see the tangible results...

Politically if you look at every single piece of legislature to come out of washington in the last two years they all bear the marks and input from conservative senators and house members. In committee many pieces of bills from the HC bill to the stimulus republican ideas and input were there. Remember the death panels ie living wills? Republican idea....

Its hard to fight propaganda......

I have voted both republican and democrat over the last 20 + years since becoming a citizen of this great country. My family has lived the american dream, we came here with nothing and trough hard work and education every single member of my immediate family has prospered.

Can any of you old timers remember the Carter administration? Sadly Obama's presidency is starting to look the same....before you guys start hating on Carter remember he normalized relations with china among other accomplishments...I all fairness I did vote for Reagen that first term because I did believe he had a better agenda than carters but in retrospect I did make a mistake....

Its hard to message when millions are out of work and need someone to blame...

Actually...no...

Its because at a midterm election the President's approval rating usually takes nose dive. This is normal, it has nothing to do with "people paying close attention". No one pays attention to politics.

Um, well lets see. Tea Party complains about high taxes, Obama created the single largest tax break in American history. People complain about government spending and bailouts, it was passed under a Republican President with the incoming Speaker of the House standing up on the floor and urging everyone to vote for the bailouts. The recession has ended and we've actually had 9 straight months of job growth, but the people voted to give control back to the people who are largely responsible for the problems. People complain about the deficit, the Bush tax cuts are estimated to add more to the deficit than healthcare, the stimulus, and TARP combined.

The number of people that didn't seem to get the message is staggering. I don't think it's all Obama's fault, most of you really are just fucking stupid.

Were these people fucking stupid when they voted for Obama and the Democrats, or did they just turn stupid when they voted in Republicans on Tuesday?

Just trying to figure it out...
