Justice Antonin Scalia and Anthony Kennedy are both 74 years old. Justice John Paul Stevens is the oldest serving justice, retiring at 80 years old. If you do the math, Scalia and Kennedy will probably be retiring before they hit 80 in 2016. The only other Justice older than the two of them is Ginsburg at 77.

If Obama plays his cards right in 2012, he could be appointing another three justices before his term is up.

Scalia will stay until a right wing R gets in the Prez or he dies.
Kennedy I can see leaving when he wants with little concern about his replacment.

That's assuming Obama is the next President. I'm starting to think he's not.

That's a good for his opponent.

"If Obama wins the presidency he could appoint folks like these two clowns he did. Think about that and the impact it will have on our once, before Obama, great Nation was for generations.

Think about your vote, and choose wisely. And if you're not voting or registered, the future of our country rests in your hands."

Someone need to quit pretending they have a job and admit they are collecting UE and making silly campaign slogans while their wife works.

You'd have to drag Scalia away kicking and screaming before stepping down during a Dem presidency for starters...

Ginsburg will probably be the first to retire. She's in pretty bad health.

More likely than not, Obama will win, but making any serious predictions this far out is a fool's errand.

I really do hope that he is able to replace some more justices though, as the USSC is the farthest to the right the country has probably ever seen. (it's really telling how skewed the court has become when Stevens is considered a 'liberal' even though he was put on the bench by a Republican)

I doubt Scalia is going anywhere. Despite his age, he seems to have avoided senility thus far.

Of course, that sort of thing can come on quickly and 2016 is a long way away.

Although I would like to see someone replace Scalia, I believe that Ginsberg will be the next justice to be replaced.

It is a scary proposition to have even more crazies like the Sotomayor and Kagan on the court. The one risk mitigating factor is that the repubs should be in a stronger position after the 2012 election so they can block the worst of the worst from getting on the court.

I'm a little curious as to what has led you to believe they are "crazies"

The Republican Party will never block a Sonia Sotomayor. They'd have to pick up like 13 seats in the Senate, and that ain't gonna happen.

They're both fairly moderate. And to people as far, Far, FAR right as PokerGuy and Spidey, anything that's not bordering on Christian Zealotry is crazy. Both Bush's appointees were much further away from center than both Obama appointees. I guess when you yourself are crazy, the sane look crazy to you.

Moderate? Are you crazy? They are FAR LEFT. Both of them don't believe the constitution limits the federal governments authority and have said as much in their hearings.

Was it kagan or scrotomyass who wouldn't answer the question on if congress could mandate what foods people eat?

Why would the most liberal president ever appoint moderates?

Look at the statements they've previously made, that's plenty of evidence. Also note their opinions in the important cases where they've been (predictably) on the wrong side of logic.

They don't need 13 more seats, they just need a solid block of 40 to stand firm and say "no". If another crazy is selected, don't even let it come up for a vote, and all you need to do that is 40.

So be specific. Tell us exactly what makes them crazy.

How about
I would hope that a wise Latina woman with the richness of her experiences would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a white male who hasn't lived that life

Read the opinions in some of the losing cases recently and it leaves no doubt they are nuts.

How does that show that she is a crazy? Once again, what specific opinions in what specific losing case? Since they leave no doubt, they should be easy to pinpoint.

Please also include decisions and opinions by Kagan that you believe point to her insanity.

Anyone who actually believes what she said is nuts. Go read the dissenting opinions in the cases soto and kagan have been a part of yourself. Heck, Kagan thinks it's fine to have the government decide what you eat (or at least that it's perfectly constitutional).

What cases? What quotes? BE SPECIFIC.

I have no idea why you are having such a hard time with this, considering how obvious you believe your opinion to be.
