oakleys: worth it?

i was looking to get a good pair of sunglasses. i have a few fake foakleys before and one of the square wires. i looked at the real square wires and found out they're $210 for the polarized ones. are they really worth 210 big ones? i read oakley owners like them alot but there's plenty of haters too.

For polarized lenses you can beat costa del mar

Thats what me and everybody I know who works on the water uses.

All depends on your priorities.

I have that exact pair. Were they worth it to me. Yes. I like the sunglasses, I am out in the sun very often. The $210 didn't effect me at all. (Actually I didn't pay 210, but still if I got them today, $210 wouldn't be too much).
My priorities might be different than yours.

i'm not out in the sun all the time. i sit inside an office building everyday and wear normal prescription glassess. i wear contacts on weekends and therefore wanted a good pair of sunglasses. i really like the design of the oakley wires. the normal, non polarized square wires are around $150 or $160. i want something that'll protect my eyes from the sun and they get very sensitive in bright daylight during summer time. what other brands should i look into?

Try Ray Ban, Smith, Spy Optical, Dragon or somebody will eventually suggest some cheap knock offs since nobody should pay more than $5.00 for sunglasses.

If there is Costco in your area, Oakleys are lot cheaper there as well as other sunglasses.

my eyes are very sensitive to sunlight so therefore I have to wear sunglassess all the time it feels like. I love my oakleys and feel they are worth every penny. But then again it helps that I know someone who gets over half off for them so that makes them a more reasonable cost.

Considering I'm about to drop $300+ on a pair of Maui Jim's, I'd say yes. Then again I can afford to spend that kind of money and protecting my eyes are that important to me.

I have a pair of Oakley wire rim glasses (they say "A Wire Thick" on the inside of the arm) and I love them. These are the glasses I usually wear when it is sunny outside. They look really sleek, kind of a dark chrome metal look to the frames with the slightly reflective lenses. These aren't polarized though.

I have a pair of Ray Ban's which are polarized. I picked up when I was in Maui last summer. I wear them occasionally.

Edit-The Oakleys cost me $150. The Ray Bans were about that too IIRC.

I was given a pair of Oakley Minutes several years ago as a gift. I recently broke them (my fault) and went looking for another pair. Nothing I tried on felt right so I ponied up the dough for another pair of Minutes.

So I guess I'd say yes.

my local costco has the e-wires with gold lens. they're not polarized but cost only $129.
