Oakland Airport is the worst POS ever.

I've had to pick up people before and drop people off on Thanksgiving weekend for the past 2 years in San Jose International and it's NEVER been a problem with traffic.

Yet today when I went to drop people off at OAK, the traffic was backed up all the way just past the entrance (far from the curbside dropoff). Took like 20 minutes after entering the airport to get all the way to the curb to drop people off. What's worse is there's not enough entrances from the outer loop to the inner loop. And if you do want to get in the inner loop, be prepared to be stuck.

What a POS airport. I would never fly from that crappy place.

Edit: I'm from San Jose, so I frequently fly from SJC and I go international a lot from SFO in addition to flights across the nation. I've seen crowded airports, but NEVER is the traffic backed up solid that you see the terminal still a mile away and you're already not moving.

Sounds fun. Took me 1.5hrs to travel about 300 yards into a mall car park one Xmas, another 20 minutes to find a space :|

Online shopping FTW!

I've never been to oakland and I'm still pretty sure it's nowhere as bad as Luguardia and/or JFK. I've seen third world countries have better airports than LaGuardia.

I flew through there on my way back to Portland last week, I will never fly though there again.

It's not just huge travel days like that. Oakland airport traffic sucks really really often. I refuse to go pick people up or drop 'em off there anymore - they gotta cab or BART it.

Fixed.

I feel so sad now. :(

Oakland resident, Oakland native, and I like it here. But without universal ATOT approval... I... I just might not be able to go on. :brokenheart:

I've used Oakland airport 20 or 30 times with great results. I know the traffic was bad there yesterday. That's what they said on the radio traffic reports on KGO.

I've been to Oakland airport about two million times and it's usually not bad at all..in fact I've had better results in Oakland than in SJC normally. I live in Union City which is right in the middle of the two.

Most airports at this time of year will be extremely busy.

It's Oakland. Traffic is always bad in Oakland. What....expect the airport to magically be different?

Guess I just have bad luck when I've gone there. :( Maybe I'll give it another shot.

Oakland is a suck ass cesspool to begin with, why would you think the airport would be the shiny piece or corn in the turd?

You're telling me SJC is better than oakland... San Jose Airport is a Glorifed High school with a runway... the security check point lines often stretch into the parking garage...

At the end of the day the only real airport in the bay area is SFO.

Wow...Oakland is my favorite bay area airport...I HATE dealing with SFO, and have only flown out of San Jose once, and probably won't do it again...

Gotta consider the extra-heavy amount of air traffic right now...NORMALLY, Oaktown is in & out, with the biggest delay, being finding a place to park.

I've flown out of Hayward a bunch of times, that was easy, but I was the pilot.

They only seem bad until you've used Newark, St Louis or Logan. Logan is a special little slice of hell unequaled anywhere on earth.

Come on. It can't be that bad. Or are you trying to distract us from that real POS of a football team that's in Oakland... Is the airport really Raiders bad?

OAK is much better than SJC. Yes, yesterday it was bad but it was also a very busy flying day. I live in Alameda, and Drive between the Airport almost every day. The good thing at OAK is that the RENTAL CAR center is at the side of the airport now (so that cuts some of the traffic). Now only, if they can make a separate entrance for the Parking, that would help a LOT.

The terminal at OAK is miles better than the SJC terminal though. Stepping out of the plane on the tarmac and getting wet (on a rainy day) is NOT fun at SJC :(

Very True. Logan is HELL. Too confusing for an outsider. Flew in/out of Logan earlier this year and got lost atleast couple of times while getting out and also while getting into Logan. Both times were SLOW times with very little traffic...I wonder how much worse it will be at PEAK time. Will try to avoid it if possible in the future.

SFO is very nicely designed. The one best thing that I like about SFO is that the entrances to Domestic and Internation terminals is separate just after you take the exit (divides the traffic at the start). Same thing with parking (the entrances splits before you enter the terminal). Very Easy getting in/out of SFO
