O2 Sensor or Air Flow Ratio Sensor (1999 Camry)

To inject some sanity in to this discussion. I have the same 99 Camry with California emission and I did put a Bosch wide-band sensor but as it turned out, it was just re-boxed by Bosch and was actually a Made In Japan Denso (or NTK?) wide-band sensor. I knew that from my research before I purchased it.

That's interesting... What was the part number for that reboxed o2 sensor and where'd you buy it? Did you buy it like this to save money or something?

I purchased it from Advance Auto with coupon. I had done research and so I knew that it would be OK. I think I paid just over $100. It was couple of years ago. I then went to Aautozone and used their beefy removal tool to loosen the existing sensor in their parking lot but did purchase their consumer grade tool to remove it completely and to put the new sensor at home. Frankly, the hardest part was unlatching the electrical connector! Unfortunately, I don't remember the number but I will try to look if I still have the box. I usually do not log in when I purchase from Advance, so there is no history to find what I had purchased.

Sontakke, well assuming you have a california car, I cannot find on the advance auto parts website any Bosch sensors with the part number 13733. I could find other ones that were universal and non universal alike but those had part numbers consistent with being non-wideband o2 sensors. I can't say they didn't discontinue it but I am skeptical...

Looks like Advance no longer carries that Bosch any more. The Denso Air Fuel Sensor - Direct Fit Part No. 234-9024 currently listed is what you want if you want something which is guaranteed to work and is OEM. It lists for $175 for me; hopefully you can use "always available" coupons to drop the price down by 40% or 30%.

there is a good chance the vibration isnt coming from the engine itself. have the engine running and examine the exhaust system right from the beginning to the end. i found out the cause of my rough idle was my exhaust pipe touching the and vibrating against the chassis in the mid section and this happened when the car scrapped the road. good luck. toyota camry
