O Thunderbolt, Thunderbolt, wherefore art thou Thunderbolt?

I know there aren't many devices right this moment, but weren't we supposed to be expecting Thunderbolt with Ivy boards? So far I only see MSI as being responsive to this segment with one board, the Z77 GD-80.

Z77A-GD80. Hopefully by the summer we'll see some more boards. Hopefully one from Gigiabyte so I don't have to get the Z77A-GD80...

I wish it would show up on GPUs so I could purchase the latest ACD with it instead of the older model

I can see thunderbolt getting popular for laptops (if you want a lightweight laptop, and switchable graphics with more bandwidth than using a DIY VIDock or run VMs at full speed HDD when you are "docked"), yeah...

but desktop? Nah.... you have PCIe expansion slots..... niche might be an mITX build with no GPU, but external thunderbolt GPU

Laptops will make sure thunderbolt is a success. Nomatter what we else think.

How much benefit it will be on the desktop? Not much besides maybe to use as display cable with daisy chaining and some external HD/SSD.

One of the issues with TB is that they didnt go all the way to finally get one solution for everything.
