i informed my boss, who i have a pretty good relationship with, about a suspect high vacation balance.
direct boss said "check with payroll. if they think you have xy days then you have xy days, i dont care".
i emailed payroll for confirmation, and i have it on e-paper/document that they think i have 13 spare days left.
so manually backtracked my hours for 2009, and discovered:
-i used 9 days of vacation not docked from payroll
-i used 5 days of unpaid leave, which i was paid for (so essentially +5 days of vacation)
basically i took 14 free days that are not accounted for.
should i reveal this information to him? hes cool with me on a personal level. but it would be disingenuous for me to KNOWingly take advantage of the situation. plus, everyone in the office knows i went nuts with vacation this spring, so if i take 2 more weeks off it'll look really bad...
