epox 4g4a mobo
p4 2.26@2.72 (17*160)
256 corsair xms3000cas2 @ddr400 cas2.5 (3060/3060) memtest sandra2002
leadtek gf4600 (320/750)
retail hsf/as3
sblive value
realtek network card
431w enermax

the system is running fine at the moment but ive noticed that the nature score in 3dmark2001 is very low compared to otheres with similar systems and i cant figure out why. im not running any settings above default on graphics. seems strange when the rest of the benchmarks are round about right for my setup?

and ideas beacuse something is not right - heres the 3dmark scores

Woah, even my nature scores were higher! But I too have had the same problem it seems. It seems most are averaging low 60s while I'm getting low 50s. Not sure what could be the problem yet.. Good to know it might not be the drivers since yours are more updated. I remember on my AMD XP system, I just needed to install the new 4in1 drivers..

18x147 for 2.65Ghz and my video at 290/635

I was reading in the Madonion forum and someone was suggesting turning your desktop to 16bit color before running 3DMark will help nature scores. Don't have a clue if this is true, but anything is worth a try.

reinstall your Intel INF drivers from the motherboards drivers CD, i had the same problem.

Lemme know if that doesnt help ill help you track the culprit, that looks like it though.

I wonder why the inf driver would cause him to do bad in one of the test...all his other test scores kick arse....try reinstalling direct x 8.1....It seem funny that that is the only test for it and it performs poorly.....

If you think it is infand harddrive then run pcmark2002 and list that score non-raid....around 1000 for average ata100 device...

ok i have done all the latest updates for win xp. reinstalled to intel app drivers and inf files.
when i go to check the driver details for the intel ide controller it still shows picide.sys as the driver rather than 'IdeChnDr.SYS', IdeBusDr.SYS, and IPrtCnst.DLL which are the ones that intel app acc help tells you should be there. i cannot get these drivers to update even after searching for them manually and pointing the pc towards the driver direc in intel app acc.

pc's will always be a pain to configure properly without problems ?? :D

Many of the people posting scores on Madonion change the default D3D settings in the D3D advanced settings tab of the Nvidia driver. By changing the mipmap detail level setting from "best image quality" (default) to "best performance", nature scores generally improve 15% or better.

Bingo! Give the man a ci-gar!

People who are getting near or above 60fps in Nature have the mipmaps at the lowest setting (which btw, just makes everything look like a bunch of blocks). Getting ~50fps is normal.
