I am a student with a limited budget. I have an old kt7 running a XP1600+ @1050. I want to upgrade my mobo, so i can run it @ full speed. But I also want to be able to o/c it. The k7s5a is a very cheap mobo, but I would like something that I can o/c with. Is it possible to change stuff like fsb and multiplier settings with this mobo?

thx

You can overclock, you just have to download Cheepoman's unofficial bios from the ECS forum at OCWorkbench.com
make sure you have a good power supply for it, too.

hehe dude im in the same hole as you, also being a student with a limited budget (although i DID just get a job that pays $10/hr whee!), and I have that board too, and I used to have a 1.2 Tbird but I recently upgraded to an XP 1800+. I originally got this mobo as a replacement not knowing its potential, but with the recent revisions of the bios by users at the above forum, people can overclock using the FSB.

I got my Tbird 1.2 @ 1.35, and I have my XP 1800+ (1.53) now @ XP2000+ (1.64) and Im working on going higher, up to 2100...

good luck.

drop me a line if you need help

Why not go with Epox 8KHA+, which is the best KT266A board for overclocking and its performance is nothing but superb.
The price isn't all that much.

I agree, if you can come up with a little extra cash the 8KHA+ will more than justify the purchase ;)
