O/C'ing P4 1.8A

I searched and perhaps the posts are too old, but I was unable to find any. I have a p4 1.8A and Corsair PC2700 XMS 512MB and want to O/C my chip. I am running on stock cooling, is there somewhere I could look that would walk me through what steps to take to O/C and gives information on stability on stock cooling?

Look in your motherboard manual for bios settings. Mine's been at 2.4GHz for almost two years.

Its an ABIT BD7II motherboard.

Devlyn, there's a fairly thorough review of your motherboard right here. That's the second page of the review, but it's got all of the specs. Since Abit had come out with their SoftMenu overclocking, you won't have any problem at all overclocking your processor, since you were smart enough to buy PC2700 ram. Just start raising your fsb, until it becomes unstable, then drop it back down 2 or 3 mhz. That's all it takes.

This review only speaks of upping the FSB, do I not need to worry about raising voltage or the 1:1, 5:4 memory ratio that is always discussed?

Most will go to 2.4GHz at 133MHz bus ("533" bus) using stock voltage. I recommend up to 1.65v as needed for stability, the less the better.

I got a Pentium 4 1.8A Core B, mine it's been at 2.53ghz for 2 years at stock voltage, 140mhz FSB, My memory is corsair 3200XMS. My motherboard is an abit bh7. If yours is a core C, then you are lucky since I 've heard of people getting those up to 2.8 ghz. the ratio of my ram is 4:5 and I keep the voltage stock and have the AGP/PCI fixed.
My temps are idle 35 C and in heavy load around 58 C

My 1.8a is stable at 140 fsb at stock voltage. Temps 35-39c idle 49-53 under load. It runs stable to 150+ fsb (2.7+Ghz) with a little more voltage but the extra fan noise gets too loud for me. 512 (2 sticksl) SS 3200 DDR Ram, 9700np, thermaltake 900 cooler/smart fan and 4 case fans. I'm not sure what revision it is but I got it at frys last year paired with an Epox 4g4a mobo for $200. I'm thinking of getting that globalwin self contained water cooling kit for $85 (Silent Stream). I hear its quiet and runs cooler than any air cooling.
