This is my first ever build and now that I've read about overclocking, I wanna try it too. I have an Athlon 64 3000+ newcastle on the nforce3 150 Soltek mobo using 2x512mb of Mushkin pc3200. Has anyone done any overclocking on this? I read up on ninjalane and pcstats reviews, and they used a 3200+ and raised it to a stable max of 219 to 223x10 by increasing the cpu voltage to 1.55 and memory to 2.8v.

I wanna be able to raise mine to 2.1 or 2.2ghz using my retail hsf. I tried it at 208x10 in the bios and it showed up at 2.1ghz and then promptly put it back to 200x10 because I have no idea what I'm doing. It seems my mobo isn't as popular as the K8AN2E-GR :-(

Can you guys help me out?

Big thanks to krose!

I was able to reach 2.37ghz, but at that speed, the system only booted up once out of three tries. past 2.25ghz, the smell of heat began to emanate from the case and only got worse as I got close to the max I reached. At 2.3ghz, shutting down windows xp took a long time. Temps for stock in the bios showed 32 for cpu and 29 to 31 for the system temp. At 2.37ghz, bios showed 35 for cpu and 34-35 for system temp. The Soltek HW monitor showed stock as 38cpu and 33-34 system temp. Overclocked, it showed 42cpu and 36-37 for system temp.

2.4ghz is definately doable, but highly unstable. I think 2.2ghz is going to be my max safe speed to run at, but I'll probly only do 2.1ghz.

If anyone has successfully o/c'ed on their SL-K8AN-RL, please post how you did it and if it was stable. If you wanna try it on your board, I can pass along the info I got---OR try asking Krose as he passed along some great information on how to do it---AND he'll be able to answer your questions in better detail.
