I have a 500MHz K7 w/ a 600MHz core and I have a GFD on it now. When I run it at 700Mhz I have to boost the voltage to 1.75v to keep it 90% stable. Only 90% becuz when it gets real warm in my room (from my PC running) it will start giving me errors and crashes. I'm using a "Cool-It Dude! FAK7X2B Dual-Fan Cooler" on a K7M so I did have to move 1 fan up a little. I don't have any way of checking the CPU temp since the board didn't come w/ a thermistor built in.
Currently I'm running at 550MHz and 1.6v which it *better* do w/ out probs. since it has a 600MHz core.
So, my question is: Do you think this is just becuz I have crappy kooling? What would you suggest I get for cooling? I've done water cooling on a Socket 7 but it looks like there is more work/time/money into doin' it on these Slot CPUs. Any really good HS/Fan combos?
Also, just curious, but what kinda results have others got from this kinda combo? Could u get the K7M to OC is FSB very well? I'm only able to get 107 outta mine stabilly (sp?).
Thanks for any suggestions and sorry the msg got so long.
