O/C testing

I wanna O/C the system in my sig a bit more, when I test it for stability, can i leave the test running while Im away? if it fails the test and I dont shut it off soon, might it harm something?

Thanks

Shouldn't, I'll run testing 24-36 hrs but there's no way I'm going to sit and watch. Just check your temps frequently at first and you'll be fine. If you see temps above 70c I'd stop and fix the cooling before running any more tests.

70c on an X2? I would pull my hair out if I saw that (or atleast the plug to my rig!). I suppose it's opinion and luck of the draw, but I wouldn't let my 4200 go over 63c. That's the highest number I have known it to hit. I backed the OC down after that.

I agree. Intel specs for the prescott I have, from the info I could find was avg 70-72c, WAAYYY HOT!! IMHO That is why I would reccomend that as the threshold or max for 100% load, AMD specs and tolerances can't be too far off those numbers as you have shown with 63c.
Well there you have it yh125td, A concensus of one that I must agree with, 60-65c. Thanks for the correction Dream Operator!

As my connie is on water I am totally unquallified to join you all in the "Hot Hair Pulling Club" This is the last round of testing I documented. The way my loop is setup I can adjust the cool air getting to my radiators. At 30c under load it is fine but at idle speeds it was as low as 12-14c which is too close to condensation for my comfort. Idle now is up around 18-20c and load at 38-40c.
btw-My prescott on air, 551J, 3.4 hyperthreaded is at 4.0, 50c at 100% load.

You're Welcome. Not so much a correction, more a viewpoint. Too cold? Thats a good one! Wish that was my issue. 4.0 at 50c. Nice temp for that core!
