If I want to try to overclock, I surely need to do this :
1 - unplugged everything except vid card and 1 stick of ram (i use the floppy as boot drive)
2 - make sure the system post before o/c
3 - increase by very small increments and try to boot on floppy for each speed
4 - when the system crash i know that my last settings is my cpu limit
5 - I now try to install each other card and device 1 by 1
6 - When everything is OK with floppy I boot from the HDD
7 - I play quake for 30 min with RC5 activated and if it is ok then my system is stable
BUT A BIG QUESTION HERE : I know that in win98SE when you unplugged a card, the Crappy OS will detect a new material and there are lots of chance that your OS will become unstable. IN MY CASE, I actually run win2k and plan to install win98SE for games. So, will win2k do the same stupid detection if I unplugged everything ?
The last question : if my cpu stop at 124 FSB for example, will the PCI speed be as normal : 33 Mhz ?? because I wont o/c if the PCI is greater -> I have a PCI adaptec 2940U2W with 5 SCSI devices that I dont want to crash all the times....
