Here is my setup:
Abit BE6-II
Cel 633 currently O/C to 950@1.80v (100 FSB) with Alpha PEP66
192mb PC100 RAM (128mb Micron, 64mb Generic)
Leadtek WinFast GTS 32mb
Win98SE
Antec SX830 case with 3 fans and a 2CoolPC Plus
When I try to run the Celly at a FSB of anything larger than 100, then the computer is not stable. For instance, I can boot in Windows with my FSB set at 105 (1000mhz) with my voltage set at 1.9v, but CPU extensive programs or games result in a crash. I get errors when loading Windows at a voltage lower than 1.9v.
While I am very satisified with 950mhz @ 1.80v, I just wonder what is holding me back from anything more. I see alot of systems with the same chip in the overclocking database at Overclockers.com that run stable around the 975-1000mhz range at the same voltages as mine. As you can see, I get plenty of cooling throughout my case, and my CPU temp. never get over 35C when overclocked to 950.
My question is what part of my system is holding me back? Have I reached my processors limit @1.9v, or is it another part of my setup like the RAM that is holding me back from more? I would think the Micron RAM would easily O/C to 125, but it may be the one stick of generic RAM that is the culprit. I may just put the Micron RAM in and see. . .
I don't think it would be the bus speeds on the PCI or AGP ports, as at 105 with a 1/3 and 2/3 multiplier respectively, the ports are not too much out of spec.
I currently have my MSI slotket set at 100FSB instead of letting it automatically detect my FSB speed. Could changing this back to auto detect help with the issue?
Any thoughts? . . . .
