I've been able to o/c an XP 2400+ to 2.2 Ghz, running at 50 deg. C. Should I try a better fan/heatsink to try it to run cooler before I try a bigger overclock?

Asus A7V8X-X. Right now, I'm mainly just running SETI. Just checked, its 48 deg. now.

Post your results if you go higher, I'll follow with interest. I got mine to 2.25 on an a7v8x-x - temps were lower though with an sk-7 and ys adjustable fan.

Do you feel you have any headroom in your overclock? If not, I don't know about spending the money on another hsf.

Maybe bring it up to what you can do on higher temps and benchmark it; if it's stable but the temps are unsatisfactory then it's time to upgrade, what do you think?

I'll take it to the next highest multiplier (17x). Currently at 133*16.5.

edit: it booted up at 2.27 Ghz, seems to be running fine. Asus Probe is reporting 48C. I'll let it run overnight and see if temps change. SETI is currently running.

I turned on the record feature in ASUS probe, and over a period of about 3 hours, the temp hovered between 54C and 56C. A bit on the high side, I think. Time to get a bigger/better fan/heatsink.
