I have known people who were told bullshit from their parents regarding their family background, used that info to answer inquiries, and then found out later in their 30s that it was all bunk. I've also known people who will use any opportunity to 'get their foot in the door,' even if it could come back to haunt them.

I don't claim to know exactly what the deal there is, but I'll go on record as saying Warren's ancestry story is mostly irrelevant.
