NYS DMV registration fee is getting up there...

My dad showed me his renewal notice just last week...
$37.50 (2yr reg fee) + $30.00 (2yr use tax). So that's an additional $30 from last year.

Then I get mine today...
$55.00 (2yr reg fee) + $30.00 (2yr use tax). W T F ?!

Here in Michigan, plate fees are tied to the price of your car. I paid $130 for a 14-month registration for my Accord.

$87?
Seriously - my parents pay almost $200 for a yearly registration for their Subaru. The Liberty is a bit less, and my Accord is even less than that. You should be happy you're only paying $87...I'd take that in a heartbeat!

Yea mine is much higher than the OPs... RH71 is that for the vehicle or just your license?

License fees are more reasonable here. I think I paid $25 or so when I was 16, and I don't have to renew 'till I'm 25.

If it wasn't for the fact that we in California are getting a substantial discount, my registration fee would be $400. That's for an older car.

I was shocked at the 2x increase, not the total price, although it's a shock in itself. The registration is for the vehicle ... registered with the DMV. The drivers license renewal was like $45 for 8 years IIRC.

In New York State, registration is tied to the weight of your vehicle. You must have a bigger/heavier car than your father's.
My 1982 Chevy Caprice reg. was about $90 for two years in 1993. My 2003 Focus cost me about $45 for two years a few months ago, so the prices aren't really going up by much.
