The New York Police Department collected information on businesses owned by second- and third- generation Americans specifically because they were Muslims, according to newly obtained secret documents. They show in the clearest terms yet that police were monitoring people based on religion, despite claims from Mayor Michael Bloomberg to the contrary.

I have mixed feelings about this one. Its not right for the innocent to be spied on, but at the same time 9/11 was caused by Muslims - the same people being spied upon now. I can understand a Muslim feeling invaded by being monitored...But to not monitor that group at ALL is playing the "ostrich syndrome" and denying that there is a threat.

Of course they are, it's just risk assessment. Of course I'd agree that "security" has become draconian to the point that I fear them more than any terror attacks, I sympathize with them.
