NYC'ers: Whats your fav bar?

I recently started to going out to drink with a couple of my friends. Problem is, we have no clue which bar is good and ended up walking around a lot.

Anyway, which bars do you guys go to? Happy hour's a plus . Anywhere in Manhattan or even Brooklyn is fine.

Not from there, but spent several days and loved McSorley's!

Edit: Not really a bar, but there was this place on 92nd (?) where you could get all you can eat/drink ribs/beer!

McSorley's can be fun. It's a bit of a dump though.

I usually stay local on the UES in Manhattan. Jack Russell's is a favorite of mine because its never overly crowded, its clean, has good beer and plenty of TVs for watching sports.

There's the Baraonda on 1439 2nd Ave, and Kanvas on 219 9th Ave (one of my favs). Both have happy hour. Don't be fooled by the location, it's very heterosexual, downstairs is a full bar with a spa-like feel to it.

thanks for the recommendations! McSorley's seems famous, jack russell's 5 minutes on the 6 from my friend's work, and kanva's right by the gym where i go to!

will probably check one of these out tomorrow.
