Lessons learned in NYC:

1. Baird Jones has got the mad hookup!! ;)

2. Old rich tourists will pay LOTS of money for cheap quarterfinals US Open tickets!! ;)

3. MTV 2001 VMA Awards tickets are HARDER to get than US Open FINALS tix :(

4. Britney and J.Lo look just as good in person as they do on TV, and P. Diddy looks stupid dancing on top of a semi (oh yeah, Jigga weaseled his way into the red carpet ceremony at Lincoln Center.)

5. Tom Brokaw, Charles Osgood and Bill O'Reilly are really cool guys; they might seem outta touch with the younger generation but that's only because they play by their network's rules and can't be 'real' on TV. (Met Tom Brokaw during the 2001 Broadcaster Emmy awards held in my hotel; met Osgood and O'Reilly cuz they were keynote speakers at the NYCE conference I was attending.

6. One never tires of free drinks/open top shelf...

7. There are switches that handle $150 billion per hour in transaction traffic, and these are in buildings more secure than most CIA/FBI field offices (unmarked doors, uniformed and plain clothes security, 3-inch thick glass, no signs, located in random office buildings that are unassuming from the outside, almost EXACTLY like the place where Arnold worked in 'True Lies'!) It feels damn cool to be one of the few visitors ever permitted to enter the premises.

All-in-all, it was a good trip!!! Thanks to the contract I'm going back on Sept 19th!!!

Hmm, considering that I have posted info about my company before, and since the contract is fresh and we haven't received payment and there are all sorts of lurkers...perhaps I should not divulge the dollar amount???

Sounds like you had a blast. Would have driven up there myself but lacked the spare change.
