NYC Question

I'm 19 years old and a resident of Canada.

Their is the problem, here legal age for drinking is 18.... not 21....

While I'm in NYC I would really like to see a really good Jazz Club, but seeing as I'm 19 are their some that take in underage people? I will have people who are over 21 with us but I don't think that matters much 😀. Just wondering if you guys know of any good places to see.

PLANS:
MIMO(sp?)
A broadway show
Relax
Zoo? Any good?

Thanks OT posters!!!

zoo - i don't know.

jazz clubs - there are some, and i'm sure you don't have to drink. there's one called Smoke on broadway near 104th street maybe? it's not bad. i don't think they card, but i haven't been there in so long.

it's a very small club though. a little bar, a few tables, and jazz players. i'm not sure if that's the kind of club you're looking for.

go to smalls (I think it opened again) or if not, Fat Cat. There are also plenty of other jazz clubs near the area (the village). I know a lot of them won't card.

in my experience, most will let you in to sit and have food or soda and when your order something alcoholic, the server cards you then.

If that fails, there's a place called blue smoke on 27th and lex(?) that has good jazz from time to time. They'll def let you in because it's a restaurant attached to a jazz club.

smalls, Fat Cat as mentioned...the big ones (i.e. expensive) are Blue Note and Village Vanguard...I'm going to be in NYC from July 21st-26th and both of their lineups are pretty weak. I plan on hitting up Iridium on Monday night to see Les Paul - he plays live jazz every Monday. Cover for the last 3 are all around $20-35 so it's not cheap...and if you go on a busy night there will most likely be a minimum drink/spending requirement.
