I wish I could say I was surprised, but sadly no. The hypocritical professional liars(politicians) disgust me

NEW YORK (AP) - Mayor Michael Bloomberg has an ambitious environmental agenda, but it turns out he's running afoul of his own anti-pollution policy.

The Associated Press has found his SUVs idling all over the city, from about 10 minutes to over an hour. In one week, the AP spotted the mayor's Chevrolet Suburbans idling for long periods at least eight times.

The mayor signed a bill earlier this year strengthening the city's anti-idling law. Advocates say it's the toughest law in the nation because it reduces idling times around schools to one minute.

A Bloomberg spokesman says the city is doing its best to reduce idling. The mayor's SUVs are driven by his police detail and are classified as emergency vehicles, so no laws have been broken.

you do realize that security vehicles need to move with a second? This is as bad as bitching about obama's security detail costs.

We have a rash of these hypocrisy posts where big and powerful people don't follow the rules they and others set for the peons.

Get the fuck over it. With their responsibilities come privileges because their time and their lives are simply more important to the general welfare than some bum in the street.

I don't want the mayor of New York running around in the streets looking for a taxi cab. If he gets kidnapped it could cost us millions. And I can't see some poor slob sitting around waiting for him in a 120 degree car, or him getting into one that hot. There are enough real issues around not to have to sweat the small stuff.

Doesn't he also take a car to his preferred subway station when there is one closer by?

Doesn't he also overcook his meant, therefore using more gas than necessary? whine more.

edit: The law itself is completely retarded of course.

You may have a point if he was a big advocate of natural gas conservation when cooking.

Takes me about three to get the car started and going.

This is all so silly anyway. I wonder how many people who feel good turning off their idling car retreat to a 3000 square foot apartment in manhattan where the AC Is keeping it nice and cool.

Does that mean also that you're exempt from your own self-hate as long as you can make sure others are aware of their own?

I'm about as aware of my own self hate as you are. Didn't I mention a few times we don't know what we feel, that we are in deep denial? Knowing shit changes little at the feeling level. But when you become what you feel, when you feel it, you leave the present and return to the past where you were when you learned that feeling and you know in a way that is beyond knowing. There is no doubt when you become real. And when you separate from what you feel, nothing anybody tells you will make any sense. You have to experience it personally.
